A great alarm clock that doubles as a Docking Station

After my old alarm clock recently bit the dust, I began looking around for a bigger, bolder brighter replacement. And when I saw this, I almost couldn't wait to go to sleep just so that this smooth, stylish and, dare I say it sexy, alarm clock could wake me up next morning with my own specially selected sounds.

Because this isn't just an alarm clock, it also doubles as an I-pod Docking Station and is certainly amongst one of the better that I have had occasion to use! And it goes without saying that of course this Docking Station charges up your I-pod even as you listen to your tunes so no more worrying about whether you are going to run out of juice on your way to work! I say of course but then not all Docking Stations have this function so it is good that Phillips have included it as standard!

Don't want to listen to your I-pod first thing in the morning? Then how about your choice from a selection of preset Digital radio stations? Setting these into the alarm clocks memory is simplicty itself and takes no more than a couple of seconds.

And if you don't like music first thing in the morning then there is the alarm feature and it is here that this system really comes into its own! I have not experienced this feature on any other alarm clock I have owned but one of the things that perhaps I like best about this unit is that you can set varying alarm times! That's right ~ want to get up for work early in the morning weekdays but want to get up later at weekends? Well, with this clock radio, you can set them both at the same time saving you the hassle of having to remember to change your alarm clock for the weekend! Trust me, you won't vrealise until you use it just how clever an idea this is!

Now I know that I am not alone in not being too good in the mornings and what could be worse than being woken up aruptly? One of my previous alarm clocks used to have a womans voice reciting the time over and over with the words "Time to get up!" and you have no idea how annoying this became over time. Likewise the Beep-Beep-Beep you get with old school alram clocks also can be quite a rude awakening! Well, this unit has another nifty feature ~ a gradually crescending alarm that begins at a low volume and then slowly and gently increases!

At last, an alarm clock that respects those of us not traditionally morning people!

Though a quick browse of some of the reviews on Amazon state the sound quality on this station is not perfect, I must say that this has not been my experience at all! True, it doesn't have much bass but then the kind of music I want to be woken up by isn't going to be hardcore Jungle or busting Garage beats so this isn't much of an issue for me! For me the sound from these speakers is more than adequate for what is basically a Radio Alarm Clock and has improved in leaps and bounds from the old clock radios we use to have back in the day. Maybe its a generation thing?

One of the other things I like about this system is that its display is not too bright and doesn't keep you awake, unlike some of the systems you can buy! Also with its tall display screen, this alarm clock looks mega cool and space-age like something from the future. Not to mention the fact that it is deceptively lightweight too which is another great advantage!

Overall, I am very pleased with this product and really can't fault it! At under £40 too it is something of a bargain and though you can pay more, you won't get that much better for your money! Phillips have always been a name you can trust and it is no different here! This is beautifully designed, works well and is affordable to boot.

Really how much more could you ask for?
