Advantages: Easy to use, compact, portable, long life of battery, clear and loud

Disadvantages: Can encounter some poor reception sometimes, mp3 playback isn't loud enough

I bought this radio as a present after hearing and reading many positive recommendations about this, The radio was a present for my mum and I weighed up that it was sure to better what she already had, it was bound to be an improvement.

The radio is very compact and light weight which makes it ideal for transporting aronnd. It offers you the option of plugging into the wall or running off a battery, the latter will give you some 15 plus hours of listening. It also provides you with an input if you should wish to connect an mp3 player to it therefore utilising the in built speaker.

The pure digital mini is very easy to use as the button on the right hand side is multi purpose and can be used to both search and store DAB radio stations as well as being used to adjust the volume.

Therefore I was quite impressed with the ease of use and the functionality of this player but it is the sound quality which will ultimately decide if this was a good purchase or not. Fortunately the mini does not disappoint, the sound is very clear and taking into consideration the price, the music has a lot of detail. Also of note was the fact that the volume given the dimensions of the player, can go to more than reasonable listening levels, which still retaining control of the sound.

In fact just to underline how well the radio handles the volume, even when pushing the volume towards the upper levels, there was no hint of distortion playing a part in the sound.

There are of course a few grips to add to this, while DAB offers excellent sound quality, it is by no means the finished article and therefore I have occasionally encountered some poor reception. When occurs, it can be a little fiddly in adjusting the position of the radio to a point where this interference is remedied.

In all though, given the bargain price there is nothing to really hold against this. It is a fantastic buy for the money.
