Advantages: Good sound quality and lightweight
Disadvantages: need extra battery pack
I wanted a totally portable little DAB radio and bought this Pure Digital ONE Mini for £25. They came in a choice of various colours, pink, white or black and I opted for the black one as I liked the glossy finish and I just thought it looked a slightly better quality and possibly a bit more modern and stylish. Besides, why on earth would I want a pink radio?
It is very small and very compact at approximately 13cm x 13cm and it is also very lightweight and therefore easy to transport around, whiich is exactly what I was after. I take it to work some days and use it on my desk, I use it in the garden when I'm out in the sunshine and I have taken it to the beach with me on a couple of occasions too.
It is simple and easy to use and one of the best things about the Pure Digital ONE Mini Radio I personally think is its fantastic little screen. Despite being so small it is still very easy to read, even with my poor reyesight. Personally, I was, and still am, very impressed with the sound qulaity of this radio, considering it is so small, I was expecting a slightly more 'tinny' sound, but actually this is just not the case. The sound quality is crystal clear and even when I turn it up to a high volume, the quality of the sound is not distorted at all and it is perfect in my personal opinion.
It is easy to locate various stations. I simply press the button and the radio self-scans for the full list, I choose my preference and hey presto! I particularly love this radio for listening to local radio stations and it receives a perfect signal each and every time and this is without me even having to extend the ariel fully.
Possibly the only downside to this radio, in my opinion, was the fact that it is actually mains operated but as I say I primarliy was after a battery operated radio - hence my seeking out a portable gadget in the first place. I was therefore left feeling slightly hard done by when I discovered that I had to purchase a seperate battery pack at an additional extra cost (approx £15) as this does not come with the radio when you buy it.
Oerall though, this is the only downside to the radio, and personally speaking, I am actually delighted with it. Okay, so it doesn't have an alarm, but that doesn't bother me. My other half also makes use of it when she is home alone and I have forgotten to take it with me.
It looks modern and stylish and has so far proven to be fairly durable as it has been dropped a few times but is still in perfect working order.
