Pure Evoke-1S Luxury Portable DAB/FM Radio
Advantages: Design, stylish, easy set up, clear sound, lightweight, compact .
I like to listen to some music or radio when doing paper work at work, however when the one at work stopped working I decided it was time to invest in a more modern radio, and that's when I started searching for a radio that played normal radio stations and was also DAB.
WHAT IS DAB RADIO?

DAB stands for Digital Audio Broadcasts and basically means the radio enables you to listen to music and radio stations digitally instead of the old FM MW airwaves. It transmits better quality of sound that is much more clearer than the old standard radios.

I purchased mine from eBay at around £80, it can also be bought from Amazon for £96, Tesco for £98, Currys for £99.99, and Argos for £103. The price might seem a bit steep for a radio, but as it is DAB, the prices are usually around this price range. However just looking now I have seen quite a few similar DAB radios priced at £120 plus so the price of the Pure Evoke DAB radio isn't too high really.

One of the reasons why I chose this particular DAB radio was its design; it has a retro look to it that makes it appear stylish and attractive. The beachy colour effect makes it look like something out of the 80's, and with the combination of the silver front it manages to make it smart and eye catching. It has silver buttons, dials as well as a silver speaker that is located at the front of the radio. It has a silver metal handle at the top that is a curvy design which just adds to its stylish appearance. The aerial is positioned at the back of the radio.

This radio is a small size (11 x 21 x 17.5 cm) so it fits nicely on my work desk, which helps as my desk it often a mess with piles of paper work and files scattered around so the small radio hardly takes up any desk room. It has a handy curvy handle located at the top that makes it very easy to transport around, if for example I need to move it to the other side of the desk due to increased pile up of paper work on my desk then it is very easy to grip onto the curve of the handle. It is also very light weight and I can easily lift it up from the handle with one hand.
The maple colour which I would describe as being a light beachy colour goes nicely with my work desk that has a light brown finish, so it doesn't look out of place or stick out like a sore thumb. I personally really like the silver front panel and find it really works well with the maple coloured outer edges. The aerial sits at the back of the radio and is easy to pull up or push back in when not in use. The aerial is not flimsy, instead it feels strong and sturdy and shouldn't be easy to break off.
I find it sits securely on my work desk thanks to the rubber grips underneath the radio. I have never experienced the radio toppling over, so the rubber grips provide good sturdy support for the radio.
One of the many aspects I like about the radio is the light up blue screen, which glows just the right brightness so the details on the screen can be read clearly. The screen displays the details about the radio station, the genre of music, and even the artist and song that is playing, which is very clever in my opinion. This is particularly helpful when searching stations and you can instantly read what genre or song is playing etc which makes it easier picking what station to listen to. The light also allows the details to be read in the dark, so for instance if you are in bed in the dark you can still read the details very clearly.
The set up process is very easy and straightforward, first insert the plug into the mains, and then adjust the aerial in a stand-up position. The plug lead is a good size so it can reach a good distance. Next step is to switch the blue power button located on the front of the radio. The blue power button is a nice change to the over used red colour that we see on most electric equipment and maybe they wanted the blue power button to match the blue screen!
The screen will switch on and then using the turning wheel you can then select the desired language. After that it does all the work for you, it takes a few seconds to pop up radio stations, and then you can sit back and enjoy. The radio can also automatically search for a number radio stations so there is always something to listen to. It can store around 25 stations, which is a good high number of stations to listen to instantly.
Sound quality is excellent; it is like listening to music on a mp3 player but even better! There is no crackling or interference, instead you can hear clear quality music or hear your favourite radio DJ talking. There are number of stations to listen to, and each are easy to navigate through, which is done my the turning wheel. The speaker quality is very good, I found that the radio can easily be heard from across the room.

This is great DAB radio that has made it that much more easier for me to get though a stressful day at work. It is easy to set up, looks great, and has great sound quality. Therefore I would highly recommend this DAB radio as it ticks all the boxes for me.
