Advantages: Sleek and small design. Low power consumption. Easy to use

Disadvantages: The aerial is simply a strand of wire.

I got the Pure Siesta DAB radio as a chirstmas present from my father, with the intention that I could use it at University. This high-quality radio certainly fulfills that purpose, but it has various advantages beyond that.

The product allows the user to listen to Digital and FM radio broadcasts. Pretty standard but this radio also has three sperate alarms. A weekday alarm, a weekend alarm and a weekly alarm, allowing you to schedule when you want to wake up at different points of the week or when you want the radio to turn on for specific radio programs. The alarm will turn on the radio itself and thus play the radio and music at a very loud volume (unless you want it quieter). This is a very effective way of waking up in the mornings, and you won't miss your favourite radio programmes.

This tri-alarm system is very useful, and the simple to use, intuitive user interface and buttons means anyone can use it. I would recommend this radio for eco-friendly users, as one of Siesta's main selling points is that it uses one quarter of the power of many other digital radios. In this era of recession, this radio is a must-buy for customers aiming to reduce their power consumption and thus save money.

The design of the radio is very stylish and sleek, with its matt black finish. It is also tiny. It is 7 inches across, 6.5 inches deep and just 2 inches tall. It will take up very little space in your house/room and is very easy to transport (which is why it is benficial to students).

One downside is that the aerial is simply a long, thin piece of insulated wire, instead of an extendable metal aerial like on other radios. This may infuriate some, due to difficulties in trying to suspend the wire from somewhere where it will receive signal. You could cellotape the wire to the wall, but this is unslightly and detracts from the radios otherwise pleasing aesthetic.

Summary: A cheap radio (in the short and long term) that is attractive and easy to use
