You could say that I'm a late entrant to the world of digital radio but I finally joined the 21st century and bought myself a new fangled radio a few months ago. My Sony XDR S55DAB cost me £30 from Argos a few months ago where it was on half price offer and is currently on sale for around £40 elsewhere. My radio is a nice girly pink which doesn't match anything else in my house, this model is also available in a nice sensible black or white. I was surprised at how small and slim my radio was when I got it out of the box, it measures 18cm by 10cm by 4 cm and weighs in at just under 1lb including batteries. The small size means that it is portable and easy to ... Read the complete review

Digital radio is still quite a new concept to many people. I have owned portable digital radios for some time now, so I do know at least a little bit about them. The Sony XDR S55DAB was priced at around £35 when I bought it earlier in the year, and to be honest this is really good value. Digital radios are pretty expensive, but they have come down a lot in price over the past couple of years. This particular model is available in a number of colours, though I own a plain black one that fits in well with more interiors. The first thing I noticed after purchase was just how sleek and stylish the design was. The design is quite plain, but I prefer the unfussy ... Read the complete review

This product was my first introduction to the DAB radio and has sufficed as a useful tool, particularly during times of renovating our house where the sound of a radio is required! Setting Up... The radio comes with an instruction manual which neatly outlines the various functions possible, although it is worth noting that most of these are self explanatory. The use of 3 keys enables the listener to allocate their three favourite stations to the buttons in order to instantly change the station playing. Arguably the biggest criticism of this product is the speed that it takes to load a radio station upon switching on which can take quite a few ... Read the complete review

I used to sell radios and other electronic equipment in my younger days and I have had my Sony XDRS55DABB.CEK radio now for a year or so. I admit to not using it that much as it is not one of the better ones I have owned and it is now relegated to one of the lower down drawers in my basement where I keep stuff I don't use too often. This was bought as a portable radio for my own personal use but I have been personally somewhat disappointed with the length of the battery life to be honest. I find that it works far better when plugged into the mains as the reception is better. Whenever I have used the batteries it seems to struggle more to locate (and maintain) ... Had this for a good few years now, to replace a much older Sony FM radio that died with the times. This radio is incredibly lightweight and portable, perfectly possible to carry this around with you around the house without being an issue. Quality>>>> Being Sony, the quality is evident, the buttons have a good substantial feel about them, and the display is neat and crisp. Features>>>> Storage of all your favorite dab stations, up too 3, button to change the color of the screen, volume and seek. Not overwhelming on the features front, but what more do you really want from a radio. Easy enough to change using auto ... Read the complete review
