Energizer AA Lithium Batteries
by candyfloss89
As a media and photography graduate, I like to take my Digital camera pretty much wherever I go. But I was frustrated at just how often I found myself having to replace my cameras batteries, even if the batteries themselves were brand new! A bit of Googling showed me that Digital Camera's are notorious for sucking the life out of any ... battery, especially the cheap ones. Therefore I decided to look for a battery that was specifically designed for Digital Cameras. What attracted me to these particular batteries was the large sticker on the front which claimed 'lasts up to 650 photographs'. In my experience, this is somewhat of a modest claim! I've been able to take up to about 700/750 photographs without needing to change the batteries.
Typical prices
2 pack AA - £3
4 pack AA - £6
The main disadvantage of these is the price, at about £6 for a 4 pack. This is undoubtedly expensive for a battery, especially when displayed against all of the cheaper batteries. But dont be put off by the price because in my opinion, you're getting really good value for money here. What is the point in buying cheap batteries if they just run out straight away?
The way I see it is, by buying these Energizer batteries you're paying £5 for batteries that will last for months (yes really!) rather than paying £1/£2 for batteries which may last a few weeks. So overall, you're actually saving money in the long run because you're not having to buy replacements as often.
If you're still put off by the price, Make sure you have a look online before buying as you just might be able to find them a bit cheaper in places such as Ebay.
Who I'd recommend it to?
These are perfect for anyone who likes taking photographs. These are the most powerful batteries I've ever used for my camera. No longer am I haunted by that flashing 'low battery' symbol when taking photographs. And in fact, these are so powerful that even when my camera does say low battery, I can still get a good few more hours battery-life out of it.
I'd also recommend it to those with children who find themselves constantly needing to replace the batteries in their children's toys.
Summarys
These are often advertised with the claim of being 'Longest Lasting AA Battery in High-Tech Digital Devices'. Sounds like typical advertisement hyperbole I know but this is actually a claim I believe! Their power more than justifies the price tag. Read the complete review |

Duracell Plus MN1500
by xxfoxyredxx
For a long time now I have purchased cheap batteries. We all know the ones, you get them from a pound shop and the likes, loads of them and of course costing about a pound!
However I got fed up because I would pop them in my digital camera manage to take a couple of photographs then that was it my camera would shut down making ... me mad cos I had no others on me, got through loads of them and missed out on taking a lot of photographs,...... a thing I really do enjoy doing!
So recently I went to see Phantom of The Opera in London for my birthday in London with my friend. I was determined to be able to take as many photographs of the occasion as I desired and it resulted in me buying 2 packs of 4 of these batteries. I paid £2.40 for four batteries and because I'm only used to usually buying and using cheapo ones thought I would need all 8 of them!
The Packaging of these is simple. They are secured on to orange and black card and on the front I am told that they are double AA (lots of other sizes are available of course!) and that they are Duracell Plus 'MN1500) and that they have an advanced longer life and are 1.5v alkaline and the best before date is on the (they have years of life on them, in my case 4 lol). On the back of the packaging lots of cautions are given (and in foreign languages too) and contact details for Procter & Gamble (the manufacturer of the product) are listed.
These batteries are distinctively Duracell being a bronze and black colour and told what they are lengthways up the side of them.
You can use these on so many things. I now have them in my camera, video camera and remote controls and I think they are simply fantastic. I haven't found them to leak at all (some batteries in the past have!) and the lifespan of them is fabulous, of course depending on what you pop them in and how often you use the.
Being an adult.... I have a few sort of erm grown up toys and once again find these to have real power in them and be really long lasting!
All in all these are fabulous and last ages. I took heaps of photographs in London when I was there, lots at home and they're still going really strong! Ok they cost a few pence more than some brands and none branded batteries but really...they just keep going on and on and on and on a bit more! Great buy and recommended from me!
Available from all good supermarkets, chemists etc. Read the complete review |

Kodak 1.5 V D-Cell Batteries
by SoadFan
~Tell me all about Kodak D Cell Batteries~
*******************************
I came across the range of Kodak batteries on sale in Poundland some time ago and since then I have bought them on and off to use with low power drain devices around the home. Kodak are a well known and trusted brand and as the price of the Kodak ... batteries is reasonable they are worth considering for use in electrical items that don't need too much power for long periods of time. Think some radios, torches certain kids toys etc.
Kodak D Cells can be used in a number of items to good effect and we have used them in torches where they have lasted rather well and have produced a good amount of light for a number of hours without fading too quickly. We have also used the D Cell Batteries to power some childrens toys and games, where again they have stood up to the mark reasonably well. I wouldn't say that these batteries are the best you can buy of their type, however they do provide a good period of charge for a fair price.
The batteries are branded as being extra heavy duty and the pack indicates that they are zinc chloride based batteries. Although the heavy duty label is a lure I have found that many similar batteries claim to be heavy duty and in most cases, as with these particular batteries that really is not the case. Zinc chloride and zinc carbon batteries are in general an older style of battery and should be bought only when they are able to be purchased cheaply. In use I have found that these Kodak D Cell batteries do not last as long as other similar alkaline batteries might do and feel thats something to bear in mind when looking into purchasing them.
~The pack and the price?~
********************
I have only found these batteries to be available on sale at Poundland and as such I am unable to compare them directly with other stores in terms of price. What I am able to say is that I have only ever paid £1 per pack for these Kodak D Cell batteries. This works out at just 50p per battery which I feel seems a reasonable amount to pay for them.
The batteries are simply packed in clear fronted packs which allow you to see what you are getting for your money. The Kodak branding is bold and uses the signature bright yellow shade that Kodak favour, to good effect. I feel that makes the pack easy to spot as its very bold and stands out well amongst other products. I have found that the pack is sealed well and keeps the batteries firmly in place when they are being stored, yet is easy to rip open when you need to open up the pack and use the batteries.
~How do you rate them?
*******************
Over all I feel that for the amount of money they cost these Kodak D Cell batteries are fair value. I don't feel they offer anything special when compared with other D Cell batteries that we have used and they do have a limited life span which in no way does justice to the extra heavy duty label they carry. In spite of this I have bought the batteries on and off, as I feel they are a cheap solution that will last for a while in certain situations.
For slightly better performance and longer lasting power output a good option (also from the Kodak brand) would be their Kodak Max Alkaline D Cell batteries. These do cost a little more and can be at least double the price of the Kodak 1.5v D Cell batteries. I wouldn't say these zinc chloride batteries are the best I have bought, but they do offer good value for money. At just £1 per pack or 50p each they are a reasonable buy and I would like to give them a 3 star product rating. Read the complete review |
