“ Brand: B&Q „
I purchased this drill after, oh, minutes of research and pretending that I knew what I was looking at in the B&Q store. Well, I was surrounded by tradesmen and didn't want to stick out too much. I am soooo lucky that, somehow, I made the right choice. This tool is an excellent all-rounder, and has made my recent jobs of putting together several shelving units, a more heavy duty bookcase, and an even heavier duty cabinet. It also drills through anything from thin wood to masonry. In short, an excellent al-rounder for anyone who, like me, doesn't want a professional tool, but nonetheless something that helps you do any of those little DIY jobs. The drill has two speeds, and the variable speed through the finger button is very easy to control - even I've managed not to tear through any screw heads yet. In addition, there is an easy to fathom torque control, and a hammer drill funtion for those tricky solid bits that need holes in them. There is also a superb little feature at the back end of this drill - a tiny spirit level, so you can see just how wonky the hole you were going to drill would have been. There is also a second battery pack, so you dont run out of power in the middle of a job. The only complaint I have about this tool is the poor quality of the two scewdriver bits supplied with the drill - one of these bent the first time I used the drill. It seems a shame to attempt to ruin what is otherwise an excellent tool with a little penny-pinching. Overall, an excellent and easy-to-use tool, which I would recommend to anyone - a snip at less than £80.00
B&Q have their own range of cordless drills. They are low price, come with a range of drills and a usefull carrying case. I got one of these as a bit of an impulse buy. At first everything worked well, nice keyless chuck, quite powerfull, an ideal drill for use around the home. After a year or so the drill was starting to show it's age. The batteries had never had a particularly long life, about 30 minutes use this was now down to about 15 minutes. Not very good considering it's a 5 hour recharge ! You start jobs but can never finish them due to very poor battery life. These drills are cheap, but count on replacing it on a regular basis, this ones going in the bin.
