During my DIY days I've gone through a lot of drill/drive bits. Some have been good, some have been great, some have been a total embarrassment. These, are in the second list as they are fantastically strong and built to last.
There are 25 pieces in this set, all housed in their own special place inside the casing, although the casing is more than that, this casing acts as a handle for the screwdriver that this case turns into... yes, a bit case that turns into a screwdriver... wow...??!?!!!
The bits you get are 12 'hex' type bits, 6 flat head bits, 6 cross head bits and a magnetic bit holder that al the bits slot into.
So, I said the case changes into a screwdriver. Well, this is simply done by taking the white casing cover off the bits, take out the magnetic holder and the bit you want. Then, pop the cover back into place, it's locked when you hear the clicking sound. Now you take the magnetic holder and slot it into the top of the cover where there is a 'hex' holder. This is cleverly hidden under the green hook top section. Now you have the magnetic holder in place you take the bit, slot it into the 'hex' holder and away you go.... you can also use the bits without the extension holder if the work your screwing into/from lets the size of the casing in.
The entire thing stands at about 170mm high, (closed), 45mm wide and 45mm deeps, being a hex shape rather than a round shape.
This screwdriver is stronger than I first thought and can withstand some stubborn screws. The 'hex' shape of it makes gripping it so easy and the way that the inside bit holder is designed means that it's very unlikely that too much of a grip will squash the cover itself.
The bits are what you'd expect from Bosch, tough, made to last and great for all types of jobs. And when they are not being used they fit snugly in the holes inside the casing.
The price of these is about £10 but, after a quick check on amazon, these are going for a few quid on their 'add-on' pricing, which is the way to go if you want to get hold of these. Even so, they are still worth paying the £10 for.
~Bish, Bash, Bosch~
There is nothing worse than commencing a DIY job around the home that requires the use of your trusty cordless screwdriver only to find that you don't have the right screwdriver bit for the job in hand. This little set of selected replacement screwdriver bits is something that I feel works well with either a manual interchangeable screwdriver (one that requires a little elbow grease, but can make use of various types of screwdriver bits) or with a cordless electric model that takes a lot of the effort out of fixing screws in place when required. This little set gives you access to flat headed bits, cross headed bits and even some of the fancier shaped bits that you may not have had with other similar sets.
The cost of this set is really quite fair in my opinion as it can be bought for just under £10 at High Street shops likes Argos (still cheaper at £7.99 from Amazon) which I feel is good value for money for a mixed set such as this one. The selection of screwdriver bits that you get can be a compliment to the Bosch handheld cordless screwdriver which can be used with them, although you can also use these in other types of screwdriver if wanted. I feel that is a bonus rather than a failure on the part of the makers of the product that some of the bits are doubles if you already have a Bosch cordless screwdriver, as it means you will often have a spare in case of damage or threading issues after repeated or clumsy/ heavy handed over usage.
~Using the product~
The small size of the screwdriver bit container makes it something that can easily be stored alongside other tools and equipment without this pack taking up too much room. The push and slide to open and close style of the container makes for something that I find reasonably easy to access when needed. Once you open up the container the selection of bits is presented in a tightly packed format that can make for a quick and simple way to select the right bit for the job if you have the knack for getting the bit you need out of its slot. You can sometimes struggle to get the small screwdriver bits out of their cosy storage slots, although this is easily over come with the use of a set of small sized pliers. After use you just need to slide the used bit back in to its storage slot and then close down the container to give a relatively safe and secure seal that will keep all the screwdriver bits stored away ready for their next outing. I feel that these bits seem both strong and well made as they perform well in use making them a good option for a variety of DIY tasks.
~What is in the set?~
This Bosch screwdriver set has a total of 25 pieces including the magnetic universal holder which I feel offers a good variety of bits to suit a range of jobs. There are 6 torx bits, 6 slotted bits, 6 Phillips head bits and 6 pozzi bits which range in size and these seem to be made from strong sturdy materials as some of these bits have been in use a good number of times and have not suffered any serious damage that would make them no longer fit for use. The bits are easy to fit in place when you need to use them and they seem to fit well giving a secure hold that enables you to use them as required.
Over all I feel this is a very useful set to have around the home for those simple DIY jobs that crop up from time to time. Not only do you get a good selection of well shaped screwdriver bits, you also get the neat and compact storage container which is quite useful in my opinion. The price of this set is very good when you compare it to other cheaper sets that you can buy and I have been more than pleased with how they have performed over time. As such my rating for the set is 4 stars which I feel reflects the quality and value for money you get when buying this product.
