My sister has just had a baby and my mum bought this for her so no doubt it will be passed to me when my baby arrives. I use this pram pretty much every other day as I look after my niece weekly so I know exactly how to use it and whats hot and whats not in the world of baby pushing.
This particular Bugaboo Cameleon Pram & Pushchair is a 3-in-1 design. It can be used as a car seats and has a reversible bassinet and reversible seat for easy access. The seat has 3-position you can adjust it easily and quickly with no hassle.
There is just the one handle bar which I think is a much better design as it gives you more support when moving it. The movement it very easy, smooth and it doesn't matter your height you can adjust it. Even when the bag underneath is full its is easy to use and steer with one hand. It is also very easy to fold and easy for transport however I do think it could compact up slightly more. My sister has a mini cooper and it takes up the whole boot with one seat being folded down, so once the baby seat is in you only have the passenger seat to fill with shopping. I feel like it is sturdy and built to last so it is definitely value for money.
Some of the flaws and dislikes I've noticed is the bag underneath, its big enough but just not easy to access at all which seems completely stupid. So I end up hanging bags on strapped hooks I bought for the handle which works fine even with the baby bag on the pram until you let go of the pram or take baby out.....it falls over with the weight as the wheels are so light at the front it doesn't balance it out. Also releasing the break switch is really quite hard, you've really got to push and if your hand/finger is in the wrong place it smacks you really hard. I also don't like the fact that when you dismantle the pram you have to take the connecting arms off, why?! Not to mention they could get lost and its an added job to do when dealing with a child and shopping etc. Lastly when releasing the car seat from the chassis you have to press down on two small grey buttons either side of the car seat AND pull the car seat up at the same time to release it from the connecter arms on the chassis. Its a bit awkward and could be better designed. Other than that the assembling and dissembling is really quick and easy.
When you buy this pram it should include the chassis, wheels, seat fabric, carrycot fabric, underseat bag and rain cover. However there are so many more accessories you can get with the Bugaboo brand and there are lots of fun and fashionable colours to choose from. My sister has black and a teal blue.
You could easily get carried away if its your first child and buy everything under the sun. It's fun as all the little accessories you can get really look the part and match. Bugaboo also do a cup holder (which my sister has and is useful for snacks, phone, sunnies and drinks of course), a parasol which is big enough to cover the little ones body from the sun or wind but not offensive that it's going to get in the way. Its also easy to attach. There is also a Maxi-Cosi adapter, an organiser, universal footmuff, a tray, mosquito net, rough terrain wheels, wool blanket, pushchair seat liner and a bag. All are useful to be honest but things like the footmuff and blanket you can get any brand.
One thing a few friends commented on was the fact this pram seat can face me or outwards which is apparently hard to find. It is nice to have the option.
This set is compatible with these car seat and accessories:
- Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix Car Seat
- Maxi-Cosi Pebble Car Seat
- Recaro Young Profi Plus Car Seat
I definitely recommend this pram as it is versatile, leight weight, easy to use and will last a few babies.
I really love the bugaboo cameleon. It is really light and easy to push about, and is good for toddlers as well as babies.
The bugaboo chameleon does fold in separate pieces, which depending on your lifestyle could be a bit of a problem. It makes it awkward when you're on your own and need to fold the pram as well as carry a toddler plus changing/shopping bags etc. If you think this may be a problem for you then the bugaboo bee could be a better option as it folds in one piece.
The folding issue also makes it a bit of a pain having to take it apart to put in the boot, and also when travelling/flying abroad
Reading on some review sites it seems as though a number of people have had problems with the brake. I however haven't had a problem therefore can't comment regarding this.
The only major downside I found with this pram is that it was a little bit big on some buses, the mainline buses that have spaces at the front to normally fit two prams is fine to take this on, but I would certainly never even think about attempting to get it on the smaller 'circular' buses.
This pram is quite an expensive option, so it might be worth looking around for a second hand one on gumtree, ebay, facebook etc, you may be able to get a bargain! however these prams do tend to hold their value very well.
