Advantages: Gives little legs a break, easy to use
Disadvantages: Price, some children don't like it
When I fell pregnant with my second child I was a little worried if my eldest was ready to walk everywhere, for all she was going to be just over three when my second child would arrive I was that used to hearing "my legs hurt" so I was dubious of whether she would actually manage not having a buggy she could just climb in when she wanted.
I didn't want to buy a double buggy as I knew that it wouldn't be long before my daughter could manage walking all the time and so we looked into a buggy board. I didn't know of anyone who used or had used a buggy board and ended up selecting this one for the simple reason that it is claimed to fit 99% of buggies which was reasuring. The buggy board costs us around £50 and we bought it from Amazon although i did look at it on Kiddicare too, I did feel the price was a little steep really as I knew we wouldn't use it for long but knew that we needed one.
The board itself is black in colour with red accents and feels very sturdy so i wasn't worried about my daughter using it, it had two wheels that allow it to move with the buggy and it is made to fit both square and circular tubed buggies with a circumference of up to 20cm and the width can be altered too so fits a great range. The board was packaged in a black box and inside i found a set of instructions which were really easy to follow which was great as i am not honestly the best at this sort of thing. The connectors for the board stay attached to the actual buggy and the board is very easy to clip on and off, I must admit I was amazed at how easily you could manouver with the board attached as I had imagined almost tipping her off whilst going around corners.
Our daughter used this for about 3 weeks in total and decided that she didn't like being on it and she wanted to walk, I kept the board attached for an extra couple of weeks so she knew that she would have to go on it if she started moaning and amazingly it had the desired effect and she didn't end up using it. I personally think I am too tall to use a buggy board comfortably as I kept kicking it as I was walking which I found annoying but i think a smaller person would be fine with it. This was a lot of money for us to have spent to find she didn't like it but it meant she became a great walker a lot quicker than she would of and i did manage to resell so all was not lost.
Summary: A great idea but my daughter didn't like it
