Clair de Lune Babyshade Sun Parasol
Advantages: Good price, lots of colours and easy to fit
Disadvantages: None for us
Lately we have been having a bit of hot weather which has been nice as it means that I have been able to take Jayden out for walks in the sun, however there was a bit of a problem with this, the hood on Jayden's pushchair does not shade him enough meaning he was at risk of burning. I needed to solve this problem to allow me to take him out on nice sunny days, I decided that he needed a parasol on his pushchair so shopped around for the best priced one I could find. After a lot of hunting around I discovered the Clair De Lune Baby Shade Sun Parasol on offer in Tesco, it came in black to match Jayden's pushchair and was perfect for what I was looking for.
The Clair De Lune Baby Shade Sun Parasol come neatly wrapped up inside a clear plastic cover, this has a popper on the end so that you can seal the parasol inside, this is handy to store the parasol in when it is not in use. There was no real packaging with the Clair De Lune Parasol other than the plastic cover and a small card tag attached to it, this consisted on the name and a picture of the item on one side and instructions of how to set up the parasol and warnings on the other side, the instructions are shown using small pictures, the label is attached using a small plastic tag which can easily be removed with a pair of scissors.
The Clair De Lune Baby Shade Sun Parasol is basically a small version of a regular parasol designed to fit onto your baby's pram or pushchair, the parasol part is made from a shiny nylon type material and the sides hang a little over the spokes a bit creating a bit extra shade, on top of the parasol is a small plastic tip also in black to match the main shade part, it also has a small wrap around tag which condenses the parasol when it is not being used, the same way that an umbrella can be folded up.
Underneath the shade is the stem, the top part of this is like that of a regular umbrella with a small catch that the top which holds the parasol open, the bottom half of the stem is bendy which allows you to move the parasol around so that it is in the right position and keeping the sun off of your baby. Right at the bottom of the stem is a black plastic clamp, this opens and closes by twisting a leaver on the side of it, this is what holds the parasol in place on your pram or pushchair. The design of the parasol is quite basic and nothing fancy, however it is effective.
Attaching the Clair De Lune Baby Shade Sun Parasol to your pram or pushchair is easy, you simply twist the small leaver on the clamp so that the clamp is open wide, you then find a part of your pram or pushchair that the clamp will fit around, hold it in place and twist the leaver the opposite way to close the clamp around the pushchair/ pram. Once the clamp is tightly shut you can then bend the bendy part of the stem positioning the parasol over your baby keeping the sun off of them. To remove the parasol you simply undo the clamp and remove it.
The Clair De Lune Parasol does come with one or two warnings, these are written on the tag which comes attached to it. The warnings include
* Do not use the parasol to lift the pushchair or pram
* Never leave your child unattended when using the parasol
* Make sure your child's fingers are clear when attaching and detaching the parasol
* Always apply sun screen to your child for complete protection
I purchased my Clair De Lune Parasol from Tesco online, it was actually in the sale and cost me just over £7.00, the full price was £9.99, I would have paid full price for the parasol as Jayden did really need one to protect him in his pushchair when out in the sun, however at the price I paid for it I thought it was excellent value for money.
Overall I have been extremely pleased with the Clair De Lune Baby Shade Sun Parasol, it does exactly what it is supposed to do and shades Jayden from the sun, the fabric is of a decent thickness so that the sun cannot shine through it and burn Jayden's skin but it is not so thick that it makes it seem dark inside the pushchair for him. The whole structure of the parasol is strong and I have had no problems with it breaking when I bend it into position, setting up the parasol and attaching it to your pushchair or pram is easy and again the clamp appears to be strong and hardwearing. The parasol was an excellent price when I paid for it although I would have been prepared to pay full price for it. The parasol does come in other colours, however Tesco only had it available in black which is exactly what I wanted so that it matched Jayden's pushchair. I would highly recommend this parasol and for us it is an essential to protect our baby from the sun.
Summary: A nice parasol for the buggy
