Advantages: Perfect for multiple buggies
Disadvantages: None
I recently wrote a review on my second hand Maclaren Buggy, which although I bought predominately for holidays, I have ended up using now full time, as I find it so easy to get up and down and my daughter loves it. The problem with buying second hand is that the buggy didn't come with any accessories, and in my case a raincover, and anyone living in the UK knows that not having a raincover for a buggy is just unthinkable in our weather.
I wanted a cover that would serve both my Maclaren and my Mamas and Papas buggy that I hope to use next winter, rather than buying a separate cover for each, and so that was when I decided to look for a Universal rain cover. After a little research I decided upon the Clippasafe Universal Buggy Raincover, which at the time cost me just over £11 on amazon, but I have seen it in plenty of baby stores as well. There is also a raincover in the same range that is designed for prams, I know this as I nearly bought the wrong one!
Clippasafe are a brand of baby accessories that I have had experience with before and always been pleased with the quality, and so I was confident in this product.
On the front of the packaging that comes with the buggy it states that this raincover is:
Easy to fit
Fleixble and transparent to protect your child and buggy from the weather
Glass clear for excellent visibility
When the cover first arrived it was tightly packaged up and I was a little worried it would be very stiff, which I didnt want, as if you get caught in a shower of rain you need something you can get on and off easily and quickly. I also wondered which way round the cover went went i opened it out, however thankfully on the back of the packaging there are drawings to show you how to fit the cover to your buggy properly.
The easiest way to ensure you have it on the right way round is to make sure the Clippasafe logo and warning label are at the back facing the person wheeling the buggy. There are side panels to the cover which have to be fed through the handles and these are attached to the main body of the cover using velcro straps, which hold it together very well. At the bottom of the cover there are two sets of elastic foot straps which can be attached to the bottom of the buggy, or you can use the press studs to secure them, so if you are out on a windy and wet day you don't have to worry about the rain cover flying away (nearly happened to me with my Quinny Zapp raincover!).
In terms of ventilation although there doesn't appear to be any such air pockets/flaps, there seems to be good ventilation, which I assume may be from the side panels, where the air can get through. I also like the fact that if you are out and about in showery weather but it isn't raining at the time, this cover will fold back neatly and easily and sit on the hood of the buggy so it is only a matter of pulling it down should a rain shower come on suddenly.
All in all, this is a great universal buggy cover and I am very pleased with it. It works on both my Maclaren and my Mamas and Papas buggy which offers me good value for money. It keeps my daughter and my buggy dry and has already had plenty of use given this wet Spring we are having. A great raincover!
Summary: A great buggy raincover
