Advantages: Universal, easy to fit

Disadvantages: Doesn't fit over cosy toes

After misplacing the rain cover that came with my first pushchair, a Babzee pushchair, I had to look for another rain cover. I initially started looking for a Babzee rain cover, but then had the brainwave of purchasing a universal one so that if I ever got another pushchair it could be used for that too.

After much searching I settled on this Clippasafe universal pushchair rain cover from Kiddicare for around the £12 mark. Clippasafe to a variety of different universal rain covers, for prams, tandems and travel systems to name a few.

The rain cover comes folded up quite small, after opening the packaging it does prove quite difficult to undo to the full size as it is quite stiff. I found the old rain cover that came with the pushchair to be the same so I guess it's just the type of material that is used. After its been manipulated out to the full shape and folded up a few times it is a lot easier to undo once folded.

To attach the rain cover to the push chair, you have to place it over the top and then two side panels will go through the handles and velcro up to the main part of the cover. I've found that the cover always stays in place despite battling strong winds. The only problem I found with this rain cover was if we were using cosy toes, the rain cover wasn't quite long enough to cover all of it. It wasn't a huge problem. Now my daughter doesn't use cosy toes anymore it is long enough to cover her feet, so perfect now.

Once the rain cover had been used a few times and wasn't as stiff as it first came out of the packaging, it was easy to just fold it up and place it on top of the hood if it was showery weather so that it was quick to just pull back down over the front again. Without being as stiff it also meant it was easy to fold and unfold to store it in the basket under the buggy without having to fight it to unfold it quickly.

After our first pushchair broke, I went on to buy another lightweight, umbrella fold pushchair and the rain cover works in exactly the same way as it did with the previous pushchair. This Koochi pushchair came with a rain cover included when I bought it, it's nice having this Clippasafe rain cover as a spare and it's now kept in the car just in case I forget to bring the Koochi one with us.

At £12 I think this rain cover is a good price to pay for a universal rain cover. It does what it is supposed to and stops children getting wet and windswept. After it has been used a few times, the initial stiffness decreases and is easy to use and store quickly. I'd definitely recommend this rain cover if you are looking for something that will fit most pushchairs.

Summary: Stop the rain getting baby wet
