I have two children who are five years apart in age. My younger child is eight months old as I write this. Despite there being so few children in my family, we have used an inordinate number of strollers and baby carriers due to having lives strewn across three continents and my inability to refuse a freebie from friends.
We used this MacLaren reversible seat liner with a MacLaren stroller which we borrowed for a holiday when our daughter was around two years old. We have used other, similar liners, including those designed for newborn babies, so we knew what to expect with this.
This reversible seat liner is available in huge variety of colors and patterns. The one we used was a conservative style: black on one side and charcoal on the other.
The cover is easy to fit to the push chair and also to remove it. I feels very soft, and the quilting gives it a feeling of substance. Given the nature of how this liner is used by a messy toddler, i.e. food particles, juice spills, dirt and general detritus, it is fortunate that it is machine washable. We washed it twice in the month or so that we were using it, and it held up well.
Infant and toddler transportation systems can be very expensive, and at around £10 this seat liner provides a sensible way to prolong the life of the push chair, an easy way to clean away the toddler mess and a great way to add some "pop" to the stroller if you are that way inclined.
I am happy to recommend this liner.
When my daughter had outgrown her Quinny Zapp buggy, I was looking for a buggy that would fold down to a reasonable size for my car boot and was lucky enough to pick up a second hand Maclaren Quest buggy for a tenner. The buggy was second hand but it was in good condition, with just a little bit of wear and tear in places upon close inspection. My daughter very much likes this buggy, and I plan on using my universal footmuff during the winter months, however, when I was in TK Maxx recently, I spotted this Maclaren Reversible Seat Liner for £7.99 that was meant to add a little extra comfort for baby when she didn't have her footmuff on. Apart from the comfort element I thought the liner might protect the buggy, especially since it already had signs of previous use.
Since purchasing this reversible seat liner, I happened to have seen online that Maclaren have a variety of colours in these liners, however, TK Maxx were only selling the one colour, very like that shown above, with one side being red and quilted, and the other being a navy, white and red pattern. I have to say that I wasn't terribly keen on the colourful pattern but I did like the red quilted side and felt it looked warm and cosy.
There are several great things about this liner. Obviously, the first being that it is reversible, so if one side gets marked, you can simply turn it round. Secondly, should the liner get marked, it is machine washable, which is very handy, especially if your baby is eating a snack in the buggy whilst out and about, and therefore likely to spill something on the liner. I haven't had to wash the liner yet, so I cannot comment on how well it washed, but I presume it does what it claims to do. Thirdly, this liner is meant to fit all Maclaren buggies, and it does fit my Quest buggy, however, I would say, that it does seem to be slightly short at the top of the seat, and you can see the original colour of the seat at the top, so it doesn't cover everything. IN saying that it does offer the extra comfort and protection for the vast majority of the seat.
Putting this liner onto the buggy, is very simple and there are instructions that come with the packaging. It is simply a matter of feeding through the straps which then holds the liner in place, and it doesn't seem to shift about no matter how many times my daughter is lifted in and out of the buggy.
I have had this liner on my daughters Maclaren buggy ever since getting it, and it has been perfect during the summer and early Autumn months, when she isn't using the footmuff on her buggy, as it provides a little extra comfort and looks nice as well. Obviously, this alone, is unlikely to be warm enough in the winter and it is a bit pointless to put this liner on underneath a footmuff, so there are limitations in terms of usage during the year.
All in all, I am happy with the product given the price I paid. The red quilted side is rich looking and adds warmth and comfort to my daughter's buggy, as well as protecting the main fabric of the seat. It is a little on the short side and it is of limited use through the year, but I think for what I paid it is ideal.
