Advantages: Comfortable for baby and very sturdy
Disadvantages: Some might find it a bit heavy
It took me ages to decide which pram/pushchair to go for when I was pregnant with my daughter but eventually after reading tons of reviews I decided on the Mamas & Papas Pliko Pramette. It is expensive, costing about £300 plus extra if you want any of the matching accessories i.e. cosy toes, parasol, travel bag but in my opinion it is well worth the money. I liked the fact that it could be either a traditional style pram where your baby would be lying flat and facing you and that it could then adapt to a pushchair when they were older (I switched to pushchair at about 5 months). It comes in a variety of different patterns as well, all of which are really stylish - I chose the grey polka dot one. Choosing this colour also meant that dirt never really showed up on the pushchair which is great! Obviously the wheels got dirty but after giving them a wipe down with a cloth they would look good as new. The basket underneath is a fairly good size and the raincover that comes with it is very strong and sturdy, not like some others that I have seen.
It is very easy to steer, whether you are walking into town or walking across a park it is still a comfortable ride for baby. If you wanted to try and get on and off public transport with it it would probably be a bit of a pain but I mainly walked everywhere with mine.
It takes a bit of getting used to swapping it from pram to pushchair and collapsing it and putting it back up but once you've got the hang of it you can do it really quickly. It is quite heavy once folded though but that's in comparison to lightweight strollers and that isn't really what this pushchair is trying to be. It does however fold up fairly small and as I was living in a small house at the time this was a real bonus! It also fitted into the boot of my car with no problems.
I used the Pliko Pramette until my daughter was 14 months and then only changed over to a more lightweight stroller because I was moving abroad and wanted something really light. Otherwise, I would probably still be using the Pliko now as I loved it so much.
Only downside I can see is the cost but I think it's well worth paying the extra to get something that's going to last - I will definitely be using this again if I have another baby.
Summary: Great pram, great pushchair - very long lasting
