Mamas & Papas Pliko Pramette
Advantages: durable, copes with different terrain's, functionality suits the growth stages of a child.
Disadvantages: none that i've noticed yet.
We purchased this product in 2006 after what felt like weeks of reviewing and researching an endless supply of prams on the market. Whatever you want its out there but with each pram offering different combination's of pros and cons it was so confusing. Never having had any experience in the baby category before, what started as a fun adventure became a bamboozling minefield of facts.
There were several things that primarily we wanted to achieve; 1) a pram that would last the most amount of time i.e. from birth through to a toddler 2) lightweight enough that I could handle (or juggle whilst carrying shopping bags 3) a pram that would manage with the local terrain (bumpy footpaths) AND have smooth maneuverability around a supermarket or shop aisles. 4) Being a bit of a tight wad :O) a pram that would stand the test of time should we be lucky enough to have more children so classic in design and robust.
This product achieves all of the above. It takes the baby from birth through to as long as you want to use it (in our case by 3 our son was using it but infrequently as it served mainly as a back up if out and about at nap time.) It is easy to flatten and I have no problem in lifting it. I would say that it takes up quite a bit of space in the boot but then they all do!. It's lockable and free release wheels cope with both the rugged footpath down to our village and its a dream around the shops (with enough space under to put in those purchases) and it has so far lasted for our first child and is now being put through its paces by our second; in fact its durability has only been challenged with the addition of a 8 month Labrador puppy to the household, who likes to chew!!
With all the accessories this really covered our needs although we have very rarely used the sun visor, but the foot muff is great. I think that says more about our weather though than the pram.
The only additional purchase we have had to make was a very lightweight / low budget stroller. We bought this to take with our 3 year old on holiday. We could have taken the Pliko but we would have been sad to see it get lost!
If there was anything else I would have liked it would have been the option to have the pram function mummy facing. In those early days it would have been "nice" to face my new born but it really wasn't a priority.
Lastly if you are not so fussy on the latest "in" design its worth looking on some of the auction sites as they sell off New goods at reduced prices on discontinued designs or items snapped up in sales before you manage to get there!
Summary: Overall very good and i'd reccomend
