Mamas & Papas Pliko Pramette
Advantages: Good sized basket, nice for shopping and secure for baby when young and can face mother :)
Disadvantages: not very long term, not flexible or compact and brakes were not sturdy
My daughter was born in summer of 2008 and probably 3 months prior to her birth my partner and I bought this pramette, with high hopes and little relevant experience as this was our first child...In light of this I probably wouldn't buy this one again :(
It was on offer at the time for £250 which we thought was decent price for a long term pram for our little one that seemed to do everything....however in hindsight it wasn't as perfect as we once thought! Firstly, it comes in a box requiring a lot of assembly, and me being pregnant of course was not on hand to help and it took my partner a good 2 hours to put it together! To this day there was an additional part which we did not know where it went and has not been attached onto it! Secondly it is great when up and running for a new born as it is lovely for them to lie flat and face mother, feeling very snug and a lovely bonding feeling...however when baby gets older and can sit up the pram only faces outwards...this made me feel uneasy as I was used to facing my baby and was not prepared at 7-8 months for her to face outwards so I could not see! Very irritating!
Also, when this pram is folded down, it is not particularly compact at all! My car at the time was a nissan micra and to be quite honest it took up 90% of boot space! not good when I wanted to go tesco and do my weekly shop! It does not have a chassis which can have a car seat in place of the base, only what it comes with...
Taking on the bus occasionally was also a nightmare as it was quite huge, and sometimes had to be a burden and enter the bus on the back as the only way the pram was going to get on!
A positive would definitely be that the basket underneath was huge and perfect for all mother's shopping, and the wheels were sturdy, could happily battle up hill walks (which I did frequently) and had excellent steering for wheels to go forward, back, left, right etc. 2 handle bars also meant a lot of shopping could go on there also, and handles were ideal height for me and my partner to push daughter with ease.
Another negative though would be that the brakes were quite dodgy...would feel as though they were on and sturdy and the next second the pramette would be moving. Not helpful at all!
Summary: has a lot of pros and cons, would opt for a more expensive and long term pram
