Advantages: Easy to use, lots of handy features
Disadvantages: Takes up a lot of room when not in use
After lots of research into pushchairs we decided on the Mothercare Trenton Deluxe as we wanted a three in one travel system that was good value for money and easy to use and this fitted the bill.
The pushchair comes with a carrycot for newborns which means you can take your baby out of the pram without taking them out of the carry cot if they are sleeping which was really useful. The carry cot also faces you so you can easily monitor your baby.
When you progress to using the main pram on its own it has a number of different positions for the seat and also allows you to completely recline it. There is a newborn head hugger which is easily removed when your child no longer needs it.
The front of the pram contains a fold over tray which has a drinks holder and two extra sections for toys or other bits and pieces for your child. There is also a parent tray next to the handle with a drinks holder, as well as a digital clock with temperature reading in either centigrade or fahrenheit and two storage boxes - one large enough for storing my sunglasses in.
There is a very large shopping basket underneath the pram and this has a handle so that you can access the contents of the pram even when the seat is fully flat. My only criticism of the pram was that the handle on ours was quite difficult to use at times but I could get loads of shopping in the basket which came in really useful as it meant not having to hang bags off the back of the pram.
The pram also comes with a cosy toes for use in winter which is easy to attach. The pram does not come with a rain cover but this can be bought separately and had a zip so that you can keep it on the pram when not in use and keep it out of your child's way. There is also a canopy on the pram and on the car seat to protect your child from the elements.
The car seat that comes with it is a group 0 and comes with a newborn head hugger and cosy toes. We brought the Graco base that is fitted into the car so the car seat simply clicked into this, there was no fiddling about with the seat belt to get the car seat in correctly which gave us real peace of mind. The car seat also easily transferred into the pram which was useful when out and about.
The pram itself is easy to manoeuvre with the ability to have the front wheels locked in a forward facing position or swivelling and has a brake at the back that is easy to apply. The pram can be folded easily with one hand. When folded it does take up a lot of room and filled the boot of our Ford Focus but we got a lot of use out of ours and our son who is now 4 would still go in it given half the chance!
Having bought this for £280 nearly 5 years ago we definitely got our money's worth out of this and I would say that it is good value.
Summary: A great choice for those looking for reasonably priced travel system
