OiOi Quilt Changing Bag
Advantages: Good looking, well designed
When I became a mummy I swore one of the things I would not loose was my sense of style. Fast forward a few years and yes, I still wear high heels and skinny jeans but crop tops are definitely out the window and I wear more flat shoes and baggy jeans nowadays but one of the things I can still keep up with fashion with are my bags. I love handbags and when it came time to finding a nice changing bag/ nappy bag I definitely did my homework. I knew for definite I did not want one of those bags that says, "yummy mummy," on the side as I feel that if you have to advertise it yourself then you are definitely not a yummy mummy. Plus I didn't want one that was overly pink, flowery or girly as that's not really my style and from time to time I knew that my husband would be carrying this bag too and he did definitely not want to carry a bag like that.
I came across the OiOi range a few years ago after seeing a few of their products in a mums magazine. OiOi is an Australian company and they produce what they call a sophisticated and beautiful range of nappy bags/diaper bags. I decided to treat myself and buy a new bag when my little boy was born.
According to an article I read on their website, "OiOi Sophisticated Baby bags are the brainchild of Lisa Bennetts. More than 10 years ago she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Isabella, who gave her the inspiration to create a label that empowered mothers to have the confidence to look amazing and feel equally as good! With a wealth of experience in fashion and accessories product development and international marketing, working with companies such as Swarovksi Jewellery in UK and Europe and Oroton Australia, the birth of Lisa's daughter sparked the idea for a stylish yet functional baby bag - The OiOi Messenger bag was born!
OiOi bags have led the way for over a decade and are THE original and essential style accessory that mother's throughout the world love almost as much as the little ones themselves! OiOi has continued to evolve, expanding from an Australian owned and designed brand to an internationally recognized label since first launching OiOi in the UK in 2002 and the USA in 2003. The company's continued success in an increasingly competitive market is a result of Lisa's knowledgeable background and ability to combine new season fashion with functional and innovative designs.
OiOi Baby bags are stylish, innovative and practical bags known for their superb quality and reliability. The bags are loved for their spectacular designs, vibrant fabrics, and functional styles that have no comparison. Sprouting from a single bag in 1997, the collection now resembles a lively, bustling family with over 40 styles available. "
This quilted bag is absolutely gorgeous and definitely has yummy mummy status and I really enjoy carrying it around. The bag is black and is a quilted pattern and design so instead of just being plain it has a diamond quilted pattern in it. The bag is in a hobo style which means it has a slouchy effect to it and it has a shoulder strap so you can carry it over your shoulder or what I really like is that the strap is big enough to go over the handles of my pushchair. Being a hobo style with a zip opening at the top this means that when it is hung over the pushchair I can open the zip easily and get out things I need quickly and efficiently. The bag also has four little metal feet on the bottom on the sides which means that you can stand the bag up when it is open and it stands up without falling over. I find this really handy too because again it makes it easy for me to reach in there and get essentials out quickly and easily.
The bag is made of a waterproof nylon material which I think is essential with a changing bag as it means you can wipe it clean and it stays a lot cleaner than other fabric bags. I am always spilling milk on it or some baby food etc, it gets a lot of abuse but to be able to just wipe it clean with a wet wipe is great. It dries in seconds after you have done this and I've never needed to give it a more thorough clean than that. Inside there is one big compartment which holds probably about 20 nappies, some wipes, extra clothes etc so it has a good capacity for everything I need. Its a bit heavy when its full but the shoulder strap holds it well and I generally have it on the pushchair anyway. On the outside at either side of the bag are little elasticated pockets which I find are quite handy for storing a bottle of milk in them. It makes the milk easy to access if my little boy decides he wants it again after I have put it away.
The bag also came with a changing mat which is really handy when you are out and about and you need to change nappies on the floor, on the grass etc. The bag also came with an insulated bottle holder which is good for keeping milk either cold or warm, whichever you want. The bag cost me in the £60 region which I didn't think was bad for a good quality changing bag.
All in all this is a lovely looking, well designed useful bag and one I recommend.
