I bought this pushchair for my son as I wanted a light pushchair for holidays that was easy to push and I wasn't disappointed.
I bought the Petite Star Zia in the black dogtooth design. It is mostly black with a black and white dogtooth check pattern on the seat and back. It was nice and simple and very easy to clean with it being mostly black and never got dirty. It came with raincover and a soft fleece footmuff to keep warm during winter. The raincover was easy to attach.
The reason I chose this pushchair after testing out a few others was the seat. It has a lovely wide comfortable seat that has plenty of room for an older child without looking squashed in. It also reclines very easily by pulling a toggle on the back of the pushchair and although it doesn't recline completely flat it is enough for a toddler to have a comfortable nap.
Another great thing about this pushchair is how easy it is to push. It is very light and because it is a three wheeler it is very easy to steer one handed. So it is good for jogging with or if you have another child that you need to hold onto as well as the pushchair. It has nice big wheels so easy to push over grass and uneven surfaces.
It has a small basket underneath which is easy to get to and can store a couple of items in. The hood is easy to put up and down but is quite a small hood so doesn't provide much shade from the sun.
This pushchair is very easy to fold down and folds down quite small so is good for taking on holidays and if you need to carry it on public transport.
I would recommend this pushchair for a toddler.
I LOVE this pushchair
It has a nice deep and wide seat making it suitable from birth to approx 4 years of age, the straps adjust to fit a newborn and a larger child
I had the original model of the zia, (an upgrade to my quinny zapp) and the storage basket which comes with the zia was great, however it tipped over with a bag on the back, I have to say the new zia x model is a great improvement to this, it appears that the teething problems of the original zia have now been fixed, this one is sturdier as the previous versions felt a bit as though they may tip over if you leaned too far when turning a corner.
This version has height adjustable handles which change it by 10cms which makes it suitable and comfortable for me (at 5foot 7) and my partner (at 6 foot)
There is , a large sunshade which covers the child until the sun is very low which is a fantastic feature, if I have been caught out without the raincover on occasion the sunshade provides enough protection to keep the child protected from the elements
the seat reclines making it suitable from birth and with an adjustable toggle can be reclined to any position as opposed to a number of fixed positions like many other pushchairs
The compact fold is wider than the quinny zapp but this still fits easily in my peugeot 206 boot with plenty of space for shopping or behind the front seat if needed and has a clasp which keeps the pushchair in its folded position
It also has the ability to stand balanced upright without being leant on a wall or supported in any way which is great in restaurants or similar
The raincover can be a bit fiddly when it is raining heavily and tends to rip around the handles but the hood means this doesn't really affect the use
This comes with a storage basket and although this is on the small side it is better than nothing! It also is very hard to access if you have the seat in the recline position but compared to other pushchairs of similar size and weight this is by far the best in my opinion (and I have had a few!! (Dozen :-s)
Also comes in a huge selection of gorgeous colours :-) and has quick release rubber wheels meaning they don't go flat!!
I bought this stroller after getting tired of pushing around my heavy Chicco travel system. I was looking for something much more light weight, easier to push, and with better suspension.
Weight: After trying out a few strollers I decided on the Petite Star ZiaX. It wasn't the lightest pram but not too bad at 7.8kg. You don't really notice the weight until you actually pick it up. It feels a lot lighter to push than it's actual weight.
Fold and Fit: It folds down pretty easily but it is a two hand fold. Once folded it fits in the boot of my husbands Peugeot 307 with plenty of room to spare.
Manoeuvring: The ZiaX has a very small turning circle and is great for weaving in, out, and around dawdlers in shopping centres. I tend to get what I want when shopping then nip out again, so getting past the window shoppers for me is key. You can also lock the front wheel for extra stability and a smoother ride over rough ground.
Weather: The pram comes with a raincover, which is easy to put on and of good quality. Sometimes prams tend to come with really flimsy cheap raincovers but not this one. The large hood also provides great protection from the sun. I did get a free accessory pack with my stroller which included a liner and umbrella. The umbrella was on the cheap side and I never really used it. I much prefer using a sun hood which comes over the front and down the sides of the pram providing really good sun protection - I got that off eBay.
Age Range: The stroller is suitable from birth as it lies flat. With the liner it makes quite a snug environment for any child. But without the liner I not sure I would want to put a newborn in it. The 5 point safety harness can be adjusted to suit the size of the child.
Handles: The pram has height adjustable handles but they only go into two positions. So if neither suit you then it's tough.
Shopping Basket: Although the ZiaX is great for weaving around people in shopping centres the small shopping basket is not great if you need more than a few small bits and bobs. Also when in lie flat mode you can not easily get to the basket as the pram goes over the top of it.
Handles/Weight Distribution: Because it is a light pram and a 3 wheeler you can't add too much weight onto the back of the pram. This means that the small shopping basket is compounded by the fact you can't put heavy bags on the handles. You can, however, make the stroller more stable with heavy loads by changing it's centre of gravity: in other words increase the strap length of your changing bag so it sits lower down on the pram. You can also buy pram hooks which you can clip lower down the frame so your shopping hangs closer to the ground.
No Bumper Bar: This may not be something you're too concerned over. It's not something I really miss but I suppose it is nice to have one.
Front Locking Swivel Wheel or Not: The front locking wheel is a bit hit and miss. It needs to be in the right position and if you press down too hard you miss the clip. You then have to pull the lock back up and try again, and sometimes try again, and again. However, as I don't tend to lock the front wheel that much I can live with this down side.
My general overview is that is a good light weight pram which handles well but the small, sometimes hard to access shopping basket, does let it down. But out of the 4 travel systems/strollers I have owned it is my favourite even though it's not perfect. My experience so far of prams is there is no such thing as the perfect one, get two - one for shopping and one for walking. I use a Mama and Papas stroller for shopping because it has a massive shopping basket but the non-existent suspension means its not the sort of pram I want to take out for a walk around the park or woods.
