When I was pregnant with my daughter in 2007, after much time spent mulling over which travel system to buy, we finally decided on the Quinny Buzz (see my other review) . We bought the pushchair from Kiddicare for a bit cheaper than the rrp. We wasn't sure at the time weather or not we should buy the Dreami carry cot to fit to the pushchair as being pregnant with our first child, it is hard to know what you need and don't need and for the rrp of £130 it seemed a bit of a risk if it wasn't going to get used and was just something that looked nice and wasn't really practical. After much time speaking to other parents and reading reviews, we decided that we would purchase the carrycot at the same time as the pushchair. We chose the bright pink and orange colour as we had discovered we were having a girl at the scans.
When the delivery man delivered it in it's big box, I was very excited!! We got it out of the box and unwrapped it from it's plastic, as soon as I saw it I was very impressed by it's vibrant colours and good quality. It came with raincover, mosquito net and co-ordinating blanket. We put the adaptors on to the pushchair (these can also be used to fix the Maxi Cosi cabrio fix to the frame as well) and placed the carry cot on top, it made a solid 'click' sound to let us know that it was properly placed. The carrycot looked magnificent on the frame and looked so cosy and comfy.
When my daughter arrived, she wouldn't sleep in the crib that we had bought for in our room. On the first night we brought her home from hospital, she cried everytime she was placed in the crib. As first time parents, we had no idea what to do. After ages of crying, I thought it might be worth trying her in the dreami carry cot. Almost straight away, our little daughter settled down to sleep! Chatting with the midwife about our bad night the day after, she said it was probably because the carry cot was cosy and felt more secure. After that, our daughter wouldn't sleep anywhere else and it quickly became apparant that we had made a good purchase. She used it for daytime and night time sleep for a few months until she felt more secure in the crib.
When we took the pram out for walks, people used to comment and admire it - which was a downer really because people failed to notice my gorgeous new baby girl laying inside!
The inside of the carrycot is covered by a flannelette type material, the outside is splash proof for light showers. The mattress has a removable, washable cover - I am so glad it did because of the amount of use it got, it needed washing quite frequently.
When my daughter outgrew it at 6months old, I was able to take off most of the fabric bits to wash. I washed and dried it, put the bits back on and it still looked new, even though it had 6months of solid use. The only small thing that wasn't perfect was that the inside of the carrycot goes bobbly where baby rubs against the material inside. I did manage to fix this though and make it look new again by using one of those de-bobble machines that you would use for wooly jumpers! (I like to keep everything looking in good nic') I packed it away and put it into storage for our next child. I am currently pregnant with number 2 but we are having a boy this time so we have had to replace our bright pink and orange Dreami Carrycot with the bright Sulphur green Dreami.
Overall the carry cot was an excellent purchase and got used solidly for the first 6months of our daughters life. It was such a good purchase that we have bought another one for our new baby that is due shortly and I am very confident that we will get good use out of this one this time as well. Would recommend to anyone who is thinking of buying a Quinny Buzz.
Summary: Excellent buy.
