I was bought my Silver Cross Surf with all accessories as a gift when I was pregnant with my first son. I practiced putting it up and down so many times before he was even born! To be honest though you don't need to practice at it is a very simple and easy to use mechanism (we even managed to teach the grandparents)
straight away I liked how you can changed the main seat of the pushchair to be forward or rear-facing within seconds depending how baby is feeling.
I also loved how easy it was to fit your car seat on the chasis using the correct adaptors.
we used the baby nest insert instead of the carrycot attachment when my little one was newborn but to be honest he never looked that comfortable. we ended up using the car seat until he was just about big enough to go into the main pushchair seat. once I had gotten rid of the newborn nest I loved my silver cross! so easy to push and works well in all weather, including snow!
we have a big car so it was never an issue taking the pushchair anywhere, it separates into the main seat unit, the chasis and the basket. I could just about fit it in the boot of grannys corsa, with a bit of practice. so the size isn't a major issue.
the basket underneath the pushchair on the model I had was very small and I ended up buying some bag clips to hang shopping off the handle but I have noticed in the newer models they have created a bigger basket.
Firstly I want to
Say this pram is beautiful.
I bought it in april 2012 from a mainstream retailer for y baby to be born in October 2012, I opened the box in July to find the frame was scratched to pieces and looked used. I returned it to mother care with no qualms or questions about giving me a new pram. The new one was then delivered and I was over joyed. I got the black version with a black Ventura plus car seat which adds on to
The pram as a travel system. All systems go until it was a few months used (bare in mind my daughter was in hospital for 3 weeks at a month old so
Only used about a month) the front wheel starts wobbling when on smooth surfaces. I oil and clean the wheel and frame only for it to keep happening. The retailer refused me a new pram and kept sending it off (3times) for "repair" nothing ever changed and in the end I bought the new wayfarer.
It is a lovely pram and the baby nest is brilliant which means you don't have to buy the carry cot
One of the reasons I bought this pram was as it was by far the easiest pram to put up and down out of all of the ones I tried. It also fit in my Fiesta boot.
I bought the full travel system including the car seat and carry cot. The car seat can be used rear facing up to 13kg so will do my daughter until she is over the age of one, which is great. I must say, in hindsight, the carrycot attachment was a waste of money. I bought it with the intention that if I had been out for a walk and baby fell asleep I would be able to unclip baby and carry her upstairs. In reality this never happened as the carrycot was too big for my spiral shaped staircase. It was much easier to just put the video monitor on her while she slept.
It has a single bar for pushing which makes steering the pram with one hand very easy - something I have to do while trying to balance a coffee, make a phone call etc while on the go. It is lovely to push around.
It has suspension which makes it a smooth ride for my baby. She easily falls asleep in there.
The biggest negative has to be the storage space. The basket is tiny, and you cannot use it at all with the carrycot attachment - a bad design there. I normally find I have to carry my shopping bags as the basket is full to the brim with toys, food, drinks etc, now that baby is a little older.
The only other slight negative is that it is a very small pushchair so my husband looks like he is pushing around a dolls pram at times!
Overall though I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to other Mums' Just ensure they get a big changing bag which they can hang off the handlebars to maximise storage.
