Karcher K2.29 Pressure Washer
by sezkamcc
We move house quite regularly and always find that the paths/patio/driveways are filthy. So after getting fed up of looking at the eyesores I finally convinced my husband to purchase a pressure washer andthis review is about the one we purchased - A Karcher 2.1.
I won't go into the technical stuff as I really don't understand it ... and won't pretend I do. All I an tell you about is its ability to clean.
This pressure washed comes with three attachments, a low pressure detergent gun, a dirt blaster lance (love that name) and another variable lance. Oh and a detergent tank which is removable at your pleasure.
It is bright yellow in colour, like every other Karcher product I have come across and feels very robust and well made. The attachment all have their own little slot to go into with the detergent tank attaching to the back of the product.
You then connect your hosepipe to the machine and attach whichever attachment you fancy to the trigger handle. This is done via a simple push and click system. Great for the technically challenged like me.
It is easy to move around as well, which is great for me as I am not the strongest of people. However, the 6 metre hose also makes this easy as you do not need to move it constantly. I can do our entire patio with only one life of the actual unit.
And boy does it clean. My husband was actually pretty shocked when he came home after I had first used it, we didn't realise that our patio and path were actually meant to be the same colour as each other before. It removed every little stain from the stones and really made it look new again.
I also like that as soon as I release the trigger the water stops, meaning that if one of the kids is screaming I only have to let go to find out what the problem is, rather than having to flick a million switches.
The three attachments are great, with us mainly using the 2 lances. The high pressure dirt blaster lance makes short work of any job and the variable lance is ideal for using around the edge of our patio/path where the grass meets the stones.
We have yet to really use the detergent gun as we have found that the actual pressure from the water has been enough to deal with anything we have come across as yet.
We have been told that it is safe to use on our car as well, however, my husband is not willing to try it just yet, as his car really is his pride an joy.
We paid approximately £40 for this from a large known DIY retailer and this appears to be the average price at the moment.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to rid their garden of all the dirt build up on thier patio/path/driveway. Read the complete review |

Karcher K2.29 Pressure Washer
by blissman70
It's that time of year again where your patio needs that final blast before hibernating for the winter season. Or maybe you would just like to give you car a bit of a spruce up, cleaning all the road dirt and bird faeces off its once beautiful paintwork.
Either way you want a tool that will help you do the jobs in hand with little ... effort whilst making the finished job look like a professionals been brought in.
The easiest and most effective way to clean the patios, pathways and your car is to invest in a pressure washer, the only trouble in that is finding the perfect pressure washer at that perfect price, and believe me, finding the right one is a bit of a nightmare. I have owned a few pressure washers and some have been as useful as a wet lettuce for cleaning the patio, whilst others have done a brilliant job only for the motor to burn out mid clean... (which does leave a bit of a smell behind).
But the latest one I have been using for a while now has managed to clean my car, pathways and patios areas, (together with my kids when they annoyed me... kidding), and is still going strong after many many washes.
The pressure washer I am going to tell you about is the brightly coloured, quite compact and very versatile one from the well known company Kerchar.
Firstly, let me get the technical bits out of the way with...
* 1600 watt motor
* 100 bar operating pressure
* 90 bar rated water pressure
* Water intake filter
* Automatic stop/start
* 6 metre hose
* Trigger gun
* Offers 360 litre of water per hour
* Comes with three attachments, a dirt blaster lance, low pressure detergent gun and a cario lance, plus a removable detergent tank
** MY OPINION...
This is not my first pressure washer, and probably won't be my last if my lucks anything to go by, but this one, with its bright yellow toughened plastic casing, is certainly one of the better ones I have owned.
It looks the part, even if it a little on the yellow side, the attachments clicking into there slots on the top, with the detergent tank slotting onto the front/back, (depending on how you look at it).
Your household hose pipe connects to the unit opposite the 6 metre flexible hose, (as long as there is not a hose pipe ban on of course).
The trigger handle may look a little square but it is remarkably comfortable in the hand, with the tactual trigger being a good size and easy to find the perfect pressure.
The attachments are easily connected to the trigger handle with a simple push and twist, making the connection in seconds so you can get about your cleaning without any fuss and time wasting.
As for the mobility of the pressure washer this is easily achieved via the well positioned handle at the top of the unit, which is wide enough for even the biggest of hands, even gloved hands if necessary.
The Detergent tank clips into place so that the water comes from the household hose, through the pressure washer, through the tank and out then out through the 6 meter hose, all with the press of a trigger, although the tank doesn't have to be used if you don't want to.
NOTE:
I do suggest a thorough cleaning of the tank if you use it between cleaning your patio and your car as patio cleaning fluids are not too healthy for your cars bodywork.
Anyway, using the pressure washer is so simple, once you have connected you hose to it and plugged it in, it is just a matter of aiming the lance at the dirt and pulling the trigger. And with the power it gives out it makes light work of those nasty stains, especially that dreaded bird droppings.
It states that if can give a good 360 litres of water per hour, although I have never actually measured this so I can not tell you if it is true or not.
The six metre hose allows you to get around whatever you're aiming at, giving you less need to carry the unit around all the time, although it is a very light and compact unit so actually carrying it is never a problem.
The automatic stop/start is designed to please the environmentalist in you and is worked via the trigger, which saves both water and electricity, you simply pull the trigger to get the water powering through and release it when you don't need it, once the trigger is released the motor stops, waiting for you to squeeze the trigger again.
Speaking of the trigger, well, this is a good size trigger and, according to my father in law, who suffers from arthritis in the hands, (amongst other places), he found the trigger to be easier to squeeze and keep control of than others he has used. In fact he seems to quite enjoy himself when he goes out to jet wash the pathway, (I don't force him to do it, he offers, honest).
The three attachments are a boon, with the 'dirt blaster', making mincemeat of those stubborn stains, the variable 'vario' pressure lance, twisting the head to find the perfect width and pressure of the spray and the brush attachment which is gentle enough to use on your precious car
I particularly like the brush attachment as it makes cleaning my car, and windows, a breeze with the fine bristles managing to get into all the nooks and crannies, especially in between those alloy wheels.
The attachments themselves are easily clipped on top of the pressure washer for easier storage.
In all this is a rather fine home use pressure washer and will blast away all that grime from where you want it to. It may not be the most powerful on the market but, unless you're planning on starting up your own patio cleaning business, it will certainly be a help around the garden.
When I bought mine quite a while back I paid just short of £45.00 for it brand new and after a quick search on prices I have found that it still sells for between £45.00 and £65.00, depending on where you shop of course Read the complete review |
