Great tool for the price, does everything I needed well; patio, drive, brick work, woodwork and car cleaning. I have 2 gripes though; first is that the machine tends to fall over too easily when moving around and the second is the tube arrangement for introducing cleaner to the machine needs a jam jar or similar to be moved around making it quite an effort to clean a large area with machine, hoses, cables, nozzles, cleaner and jamjar all having to be carted around it can be quite frustrating.Overall though I now wonder how I would have done all the work I did and get such a good result without it.Highly reccomended

A very useful bit of kit, quick & easy to start using. Use with care though!

Technical: Colour: Yellow Power: 1300 W Water Pressure: Up to 110 bar psi Weight: 3.8Kg Review: I decided to buy a pressure washer after the OH had come in moaning about the low water pressure whilst trying to clean the car again! Remembering that I had experienced a similar problem washing the patio down a few days earlier. I decided enough is enough and recalled seeing a pressure washer featured in an offer leaflet. Duly ordered, the Karcher turned up - pristine in its packaging, the weekend came around, so we unpacked the box and found everything as it should be and straightforward so first 5/5 for easy assembly. It comes fully ready for use, just cut through the tape, cut off a few cable tie straps and hey ho you're ready to go. All we had to do was simply undo the hose from the tap and do this up instead and plug it into the circuit breaker. All very easy, quick, painless and straight forward. As our water pressure was so poor, I wacked the tap on full, whilst hubby held the trigger (sounds about right - he always has the fun end)! Aimed it at the car to be cleaned and promptly blew a hole in the sill! Whoops - now I was glad he had the "fun" end, so he couldn't moan at me! So turned the tap pressure down to about half way and this time successfully and carefully got the dirt off of the alloy wheels and from under the car, but decided not to risk it on the body work of the old jalopy. The back spray from the Karcher is quite an issue too. I was seeing stars, then realised it was spots of water on my sunglasses and OH had a very interesting pattern up the front of his jeans after cleaning the said wheels! The next time we used it, we were ready for it. Swept the patio first, shut the dog in and only turned the water on a generous turn. Wearing overalls and wellies we were ready for action. Well, the patio used to have grout! Used to be a duller colour too, the slabs came up a treat and the best thing was, we soon learnt that as soon as weeds or moss started to appear, we could blast them with the Karcher to keep them at bay. We found once we had mastered the Karcher it was a useful although infrequently used bit of kit. You have to sort of sweep the water down with the jet to get the debris into a pile to pick up, and go very carefully on cars. Great though for around the stable yard - Do not use of the horses though! So, What I like about it: Easiest way ever for cleaning and weeding a patio Great for cleaning alloy wheels and mud from under cars Worked to get rid of the start of a wasp nest from a distance. What I don't like: Too powerful Throwback of dirt How would I improve it: Variable jet speed Variable nozzle (like I have since got on a hose) for different jobs Best for: Patio's and walls (do not risk on greenhouses or windows) Vehicle wheels Blasting the mud and dirt off of horse rugs Stables and Chicken houses Not for: Cars that might be fragile

A pressure washer that has impressive cleaning power but some problems.

After, my mother-in-law moved in with us, one of the various gadgets which she brought with her was a Karcher pressure washer. I will admit at first I was a bit dubious, exactly how could a little bit of water clear years of built up dirt? Well, I was swiftly proved wrong as I thought that I had better try to clean the patio in the back garden and I thought that I would have a go at using the pressure washer! And what a marvel it was! I quickly connected it up to the hose pipe one end and the trigger gun at the other and tentatively switched on the water and squeezed the trigger and thankfully, water shot out the other end! And the result was absolutely amazing, although it did take me about two hours to wash a medium sized patio, but then again I am a perfectionist! On a patio that has not been cleaned in about ten years - ooops, that sounds bad! - it made it look near enough as good as new! It removed all of the weeds, the grime and lifted all of the dirt from the slabs clean off, leaving the slabs completely clear and looking amazing! It works brilliantly! So, we have covered the very impressive pros of the Karcher pressure washer but now to the cons; 1) The water does pool very quickly together, which means you have to wait for this volume of water to clear before you can continue, therefore making the process much more lengthy. 2)It is a VERY dirty job, so be prepared and wear old clothes, and keep important furniture and pets out of the way. I made that mistake and ended up with my shorts and glasses covered in dirt and grime thrown up by the Karcher pressure washer aswell as my patio doors and house wall! This not only lengthens the cleaning up process but also leaves you needing a good bath! 3) The pressure washer is difficult to move due to the connection which makes it difficult to get to the far corners of whatever you are cleaning. So, whilst the cleaning power of the Karcher pressure washer is certainly impressive it can leave you with as much to clean as when you originally started, including yourself!!

      Wash with power

As mentioned in previous reviews, I do have a tendency to buy my husband tools for presents and although he does moan sometimes, I know he quite likes it really... Anyway I bought him a Karcher Pressure washer a few years ago, it wasn't like the one pictured (they have clearly developed their product) but more like the b and Q or power devil version. I can't remember exactly how much I spent but think it was about £140. These Karacher models in Wickes currently vary in price but are between £100 to £300. This pressure washer has been used for many things. First he tackled the old patio, which was a square slabbed affair, he spent a few happy hours and discovered that the patio was actually pink and plain slab mixture (in a chequered affect) and up until that moment we never knew the slabs were different colours. He then tackled a mossy wall, and it was soon moss free before doing the drive. At this point he was a little naughty, and wrote across the drive in big letters "GIRLS SMELL" much to the horror of our three daughters. He stopped till the following weekend at this point and it did take a few hours before the girls realised what he'd done. Clearly this device brought out the naughty boy in him. This device is plugged into an electrical socket, we have outside sockets with circuit breakers (as he's an electrician and is just a bit OTT about his electrics) then the house pipe is attached to the outside tap. I did recently see an advert for Karcher pressure washers saying you could attach to your water butt, obviously it was the newer model that was shown. I did tell him and as we are on a water meter, he tried it but it didn't work. There is then another thin pipe which we place in a washing bowl with warm washing up liquid making the pressure wash soapy. It has a stick like end (hence you can write rude things on walls and floors if the desire takes you) but also a brush you can attach. I haven't been allowed to pressure wash the patio etc, however I have used this device to clean the car. I didn't find the brush end particularly effective, but the soapy water via the stick thing was easy to use. At the end of the soapy wash, I simply took the pipe out of the power and did a none soapy pressure wash to finish off. Cleaning the paths and walls, my husband got very dirty (I think its a boy thing). He togged up in water proof trousers and coat but was very wet and dirt splattered when he finished. You do have to take a bit of care, as the dirty water splashes everywhere and could leave somewhere clean dirty. Plus as it is very effective, you definitely can't do half a job as the clean areas stand out. I'm going to score the pressure washer as a 4, as it is dirty wet work and does spray everywhere (that may be the user!) but its definitely been a device that he has enjoyed playing with.

        Good for your everyday carwash!

I am used to having a bucket, sponge and hose, and sticking my thumb at the end of the nozzle to try and get a spray or a powerful blast, but, for heavy slime and grime, especially on cars, it simply doesn't do the job. As I'm all for new ideas, but I don't like paying over the odds for something very novel to me, I bought this as a replacement for my, to put it simply, terrible technique. I knew what I was paying for, and I managed to set it up easily without any instructions. Simply connect your standard garden hose the port provided, make sure it's plugged in and switched on, wait a little while, and spray, blasting out the pressurised water, no thumbs required! It worked very well on the car, all the dirt building up on the outside disappeared with ease, even some of the dirt collected in the nooks and crannies in the tyres, but heavy dirt, didn't seem to budge. I was expecting this, although I couldn't help being disappointed at how a pressure washer, something designed to move dirt with ease couldn't. To sum it up, it is brilliant for your everyday carwash, or washing walls and such, getting in between nooks and crannies, but for heavier dirt, you may need to invest in a better product.

Buy one to transform your patio or path!

This is one product that does what it says on the tin! Cleans and cleans good! The construction is very sturdy and built to last, on/off buttons simple to use, auto cut off to prevent motor damage and a whole host of accessories. The best bit though is the connections, forget leaky joints on your existing equipment, Karcher joints don't leak! They are simple twist and turn. My fave accessory is the T-Racer, a circular accessory used to clean paths and patios. I have cleaned many paths and patios with this and it is so quick and easy, bringing them back to 'new' with just a couple of passess. Gone are the days of scrubbing your patio with a stiff brush by hand, this beauty makes it no harder than hoovering! You won't believe the transformation, I do my patios yearly. Also great for walls...gets rid of grey dirt and green algae. A must. The standard vario lance adjusts from a gentle spray you could use on a filthy car to a more forceful spray to clean up garden furniture. The dirtblaster is a different kettle of fish, extreme power to a point, the sort that you certainly wouldn't use on painted surfaces or put in contact with skin. Best reserved for stubborn stains and chewing gum, more of an extreme spot cleaner. Heartily recommended!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Great for small tasks only

Karcher pressure washers are usually my favourite brand as I have found them very reliable and powerful in the past when I have used them. This is the main reason I decided to go with this brand over others such as Bosch when buying one. We moved houses 4 years ago now. The house was previously owned by a disabled gentleman who didn't get out of the house much. This means that the outside was fairly uncared for. Because of not being maintained, much of it was very grimy, slimy and just generally dirty. The pressure washer was our main tool in fixing this problem when we bought the house. Before I actually used the device, I was quite impressed, the build quality of it was excellent and didn't seem cheap at all. It was solid and sturdy which gave me confidence that ti would perform well later. Setup was easy, simply connect the garden hose, connect the pressure washer hose and plug it in. It really couldn't be much simpler. The cable was a decent length however I always argue that any wired alliance could do with a longer cord - the longer the better. However I rarely struggles with the supplied length - the only time I needed an extension was for the extreme situation of being stood on the roof to clean the top of a conservatory, obviously this was not a regular occurrence. I was a little disappointed with the performance of the machine, I found that it wasn't as good as I hoped at shifting the dirt. It took a long time to do any cleaning task as the spray was very concentrated but still weak - meaning that I needed to move the hose over a greater distance with smaller increments and I had to hold the hose on each spot for longer than I wanted. This pressure washer is decent for cleaning cars but anything heavier than this will be difficult.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        A brilliant little machine

I had wanted one of these for a while as I was sick of scrubbing away at the flags in the back yard only for them to still look quite green, so when my fella decided he no longer used his when he moved house I borrowed it and have yet to give it back ,as it is a godsend! I believe it cost him around £75 for this model, but there are loads of different types of varying prices. This one is perfect for what I use it for which is basically for cleaning the yard and sometimes the car. It is really easy to set up to use, simply connect a hose from the tap to the power washer, turn the tap on, plug in & turn the power washer on and you're ready to go! In the first couple of seconds it doesn't appear to be hugely powerful as it is just building up the pressure, but once it kicks in it is great. There are two attachments, but I always stick with the same one to be honest. It effortlessly cleans green paving stones and any other types of stains in the yard, the nearer you hold it to the surface the stronger the cleaning power, but the nearer you have it the smaller the jet of water is so it will take you longer. It clears out dirt between paving stones, cleans green and moss off the walls and is also good for giving the garden table & chairs, wheelie bins etc a good clean. One thing I would say is that it is very very powerful and therefore it may dislodge stones between paving (be careful of bits flying up into your eye), or make worse any cracked bits etc. Also, I use it for cleaning my car and whilst it is brilliant at this I would recommend not to use it too close up and be careful around window seals, windscreen wipers etc. If you accidentally got one of your hands in the way - quite difficult, but I still somehow manged it! - it will hurt and possibly even cut you. So do be careful with children and pets, it is not something to be played with like a hosepipe!

The number one brand of pressure washer that can't be done without

Remember a time before pressure washers? No, neither do I, in fact I am completely mystified as to what I would do without mine. I know a car wash is easy enough but driveways, conservatory roof, windows!!! Anyway I have owned mine now for a little over three years and despite being considered an entry level unit, it handles everything I have thrown at it. You can pick them up now for around the £75 mark and in my experience, it will handle everything your typical suburban detached house can throw at it. The distinctive yellow and black colour scheme hides a 1400 watt motor that provides a water flow rate of 360 litres per hour at a maximum pressure of 110 bar. It runs of your standard 240 volts main supply and plugs into any socket via a generous 5 metre cable. Attached to the other end of the unit is a metre high pressure hose, so theoretically you will have a 9 metre radius from electric point to target. The manual advises that this unit can comfortably handle a 12m squared patio. Water temperature and vary up to 40 degrees, it also has water inlet filter ensuring that no dirt particles can damage the pump. The pump itself, N-cor, is quiet, lightweight and corrosion resistant, also possessing a safety valve to prevent pressure overload. It is lightweight, coming in at only 5kgs and as you can see in the picture it has wheels on its base, so anyone, no matter what age can use it in relative comfort. It comes complete with a tool set, all of which clip onto the main unit, enabling the owner to have everything to hand in a space saving manner. The tools are a handgun, lance, hose, chamois leather, wash brush and a dirt blaster. It comes complete with a 6 month warranty that can be extended to 12 months. It also comes supplied with a 500ml universal cleaning pouch which when diluted will provide 5 litres of cleaning solution whcih can be applied through a detergent suction pump. On that note, it is not necessary to stick to any manufacturers recommended brand, any solution that you enjoy success with can be used. It comes complete with an easy to follow manual to ensure that you are up and running in no time. One final note to consider, if you are in any doubt as to the effectiveness of Karcher products, you may like to know they have been used to clean Mt Rushmore, Christ the Redeemer in Rio and our very own Nelson's Column. If it's good enough for them...

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        A great cleaner that works

We have always used the karcher brand of pressure washer, because nothing compares to the quality you get from them. We bought ours for £75, it may seem expensive, but the amount of things you can use them for really justifies the cost of buying one. This model comes with attachments which you use for different tasks. You can use this pressure washer for your car (which is my main use for it), your patio, clean outside walls and anything sturdy. They blast waterr out to a high pressure which you can really see. If you still use a hose for your car, you are missing out on this. It cuts down the time you spend cleaning your car and also improves how clean your car actually is. It gets rid of the black marks really well and will get rid of all blemishes that are usually hard to scrub off and then wash off with a conventional hose/bucket of water :) my ford fiesta looks so clean and shiny after using this. The pressure washer looks great. It's yellow like most other karchers are, it looks stylish. Other pressure washers look very tacky! That's why we have always used karchers, they look great and they work well. Unfortunately I managed to damage ours by knocking it over, I broke off a bit of the side! It still works, but Im not happy that I did it! Be careful with them because they can be fragile. This is one of the cheaper models, other karchers have many more features, this one is just the basic one but it does the job! It's perfect for domestic use, especially because it can be used for cleaning a lot of parts of your land. Cleaning patios is great with this, it will make even the dirtiest areas look cleaner after a few minutes! It doesn't take long to do either. The downsides of using these is that they use a lot of water, which can be costly. But you would use lots f water with a tap too so there isn't too much difference. The bad thing at the moment is that we won't be able to use these for a while due to the hosepipe ban which is about to come into force! Rather frustrating because we won't be able to have sparklingly clean cars for a while. Overall I am very happy with this particular model, it's good value and will make you very happy to see how clean you can make your garden and car :) Thanks for reading my review, hope it helped :)

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Powerful and small

If like me your back garden is paved or you have decking, you know how frustrating it is to see it change into a grubby looking mess as heavy bad weather turns your once perfect garden into a dull shadow of it's once self. My garden is fully paved with tall Wooden fencing surrounding the parameter. My family paid to have this done early Summer around three years ago. But by the following summer the paving didn't resemble itself at all. Moss was the main culprit, it had turned our once bright slabs into dull green squares. It also brought its friend along for good measure, algae. This also turned the moss-less slabs a different, but no less annoying shade of green. The bottom of the wooden fencing didn't escape it's evil grasp. It stained all a long its end until the garden looked like that of a derelict house, rather than something that had cost thousands of pounds to create. This power washer was recommended by our "helpful" neighbour. Clearly he didn't appreciate the view from his bedroom window and wanted it gone as soon as possible. Karcher I've been told is the leading name in these patio cleaners. Its a heavy robust bright yellow machine, that comes in a well packed, but still quite large box. There are lots of different models at lots of different prices, obviously the more powerful the pressure and the more accessory's included the more expensive the price tag. This one was middle of the range as we didn't need one that could actually bore down to the centre if the earth. This had a "respectable" (to use the sales assistants words) 1600 Watt Motor and most importantly a 100 Bar pressure at 90 bar rated water pressure (bar pressure, we were told is the strength of which the water is pushed out, so there for THE most important thing when it comes to choosing one of these). We had to buy a tap converter for the hose as as our taps are not accommodated apparently when it comes to the connector included with karcher power washers. We also had to buy a longer hose than was included in the box as our garden is very long, and our kitchen is awkwardly positioned in the middle of our house instead of at the back as is the case in most houses. The hoses length included with this model is 6 meters long. We of course had to use one of those very long extension leads in order to plug it in, just like you'd have to do with an electric lawnmower. If you have a tap and a socket in your garden then using this couldn't be more simple. When it comes to assembling and eventually using the power washer itself the instructions are very straight forward and easy to understand. When it comes to performance, this compact machine delivers. It makes a lot of noise, so choose your timing carefully, too early in the morning, and the neighbours won't be pleased and too late in the evening and the same disdain will be all too evident. This comes with a trigger like nozzle that helps with accuracy when aiming the powerful flow at what ever it is you wish to clean. In my case I started with the paving. Instantly the green staining vanished directly at the point where the water hit the stone. It comes out with such force it literally sprays up off the surface in a fine mist. Fine as it may be, if your legs are too close you WILL get drenched from the knee down, so always stand back and aim out. Another thing I noticed was that it does send this dirt filed spray out towards all nearby objects, be it your windows, conservatory, or in my case the fencing. At that moment I was glad I hadn't started with the fencing only to have to redo them later, once I had finished with the paving. Once I noticed the water was splashing in directions I didn't appreciate, all I had to do was change my aim ever so slightly. Within minutes I became very comfortable with controlling the flow, pressure and direction. When it came to the fencing the results were equally as impressive. It took no effort whatsoever to just point and watch the wood come back to life as the dirt, grime and moss just dripped away. Now for THE most annoying thing about this washer (although I should have know better). After finishing my fun day of power spraying, the garden looked great. Actually it looked as good as three years earlier when we first had it done. The problem arose about one week later when I noticed a pesky little green weed poking out from between the paving slabs for the very first time. Within the week it was joined by around fifty of it's friends. What I hadn't taken into consideration when using the Karcher, was that as it disintegrated the dirt from the surface of the stone, it also dislodged all of the paving sand that was used to keep weeds at bay and "grout" between each slab. So my father and I had to spend another day digging up and treating the weeds and then even more money and effort on bags of sand. When we mentioned this to the same sales assistant that had sold us the power washer, right as he was selling us the sand. He told us that this washer shouldn't be used on paving that has been laid on sand as it will remove or displace the sand and in turn result in the slabs becoming unstable and uneven. Great to know but a little too late for us. This pressure washer can however can be used on decking, fencing, pavements, house exterior's, permanent (cemented in) paving and for many, many more uses. This is a wonderfully powerful little machine, but just make sure you have the right kind of garden before you buy.

          No water fights tho?

Karcher high pressure washer. We moved house a few years ago and although the house we moved to is bigger and better the garden is not, it is a wash of concrete pathing slabs looked really depressing. The garden had been left a mess and the slabs were pretty much green all over not helped by the water fountain statue that the water frequently over flowed onto the slabs. Up to this point we had never had a pressure washer and the only one i ever used was the one at the garage for washing the car. I purchased a cheap pressure washer from Argos that went back twice and got replaced because it was faulty on the third attempted i told argos to keep it and refund me. My husband bought the Karcher high presser washer after being told its the best brand to buy. My husband bought it from Dobbies the garden centre for £69.99. There a few models of the Karcher high pressure washer from the big industrial ones to small but powerful compact washers. We have the K2.54. You can buy Karcher high pressure washers from the likes of bB&q, Homebase, and garden centres. The Karcher high pressure washer is bright yellow in colour with the Karcher name on it and the model number badge, the only attachment we got with the pressure washer is the lance. At the top of the unit is a cut out handle where you can lift or roll the machine along, two wheels on the back of the unit. It measures around 30 inches tall and takes up hardly any room in our shed. To use the pressure washer you need to have a garden hose and a power point for plugging the machine in. We have a outdoor tap with the Hozelock connections on it. I also have a trip switch plug plugged into my main socket and then plug the Karcher plug into the trip switch plug, I really advise this for safety. Once everything is plugged in and the hose is connected its just a case of switching it on and holding the lance tight. To switch the machine on and start washing is all controlled with the lance on the handle of the lance is a pull trigger when this is pushed in the moter starts and when leg it it stops. It is easy to hold the lance and does not feel heavy and pulling the trigger is easy also and done with the same hand holing the lance. I love this wonderful powerful machine and really makes life easier, i love how clean everything looks when i have used it. I did buy a brush for our karcher machine costing only £14.99, the reason i wanted a brush was so i could wash my car and it works well also. Cleaning my slabs is a breeze and done quickly, i don't use any detergent just the pressure the water comes out is enough to bring them up like new again. The K2.54 Karcher high pressure washer is a 1400 watt and has 4 meters of cable/hose , that's plenty for me. You have to be careful when using this machine because the water force could cause an injury if in contact with the skin. Also when cleaning the slabs wear old clothes or even better waater proff trousers because you will get wet and the dirt splashes up. I recommend the Karcher high pressure washer.

          recommended but with some reservations

Whilst flicking TV channels I came across a presentation featuring a Karcher pressure washer which looked just the job for cleaning cars, blasting paths and patios plus cleaning garden furniture etc etc and it slowly dawned on me that we actually had a pressure washer in our garden shed. Not being the sort of person to hang about, I decided to take a look, see if I could work how to put it together and how to use it without the instruction manual. We really needed to do something about the state of our fairly large paved area to the front of the house and the BBQ and paved are at the rear. Whilst clambering over all sorts in the shed I finally found the pressure washer and once I had cleaned it on the sides I realised it was a Karcher K2-120. We have had it a good few years now and hubby thought it was around £50 then, so I reckon the price must have increased as so many people seem to be doing their essential work themselves to save money like us! I looked at it rather dubiously as it looked so dirty and I wondered if it would still actually work but wanting to be defeated I gave it a quick hose-down and set it up. All I needed to do was to unscrew the hosepipe nozzle from the hosepipe with a screwdriver and then re-screw that to the correct part on the machine. Thankfully the trigger gun was already attached so it was ready to go. I turned on the water and gently squeezed the trigger and - low & behold - there I was looking like the man on TV blasting away at the paving rapidly returning to its original colours! Well, I exaggerate here - I did not look like a person who would be seen on TV as I was already filthy as all most of the dirt from the path had blasted its way all over me. WORDS OF ADVICE FROM ONE WHO HAS LEARNED THE HARD WAY - 1. Wear a hat - be it a bobble, baseball, turban - whatever - but keep your hair protected 2. Wear some eye protection - sunglasses, goggles, builder's glasses - essential as I got loads of dirt in my eyes 3. Cover up or you will get splattered 4. Wellies or old shoes/ boots are a must - nothing worse than ruining a pair of £30 clogs The machine weighs about 4kg and measures approximately( LxWxH) is 280 x 176 x 443 mm. It has a 6m hose which is generous and the maximum pressure is 100 bar which is pretty powerful although this Karcher is only 'entry level' It has an integrated fine mesh water filter and a one-way spray pencil lance which apparently cleans 50% more than other similar brands. The pressure washer is 1300 watts. THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THIS KARCHER - it is simple to use - basically once you've fitted the hose you just squeeze the trigger and start blasting - the trigger handle is comfy so you can use it without causing strain to the hands or fingers even over a long period of time - the handle is long so you do not have to bend over too much(good for anyone, like me, with a bad back) - the results are instantly visible - I cleaned the back patio area and garden furniture in about 2 hours which is much quicker than I'd expected. THINGS I DON'T LIKE ABOUT THIS KARCHER - Although it only weighs 4 kilos I found it difficult to move around because of the design - 1 end is plugged into the mains whilst the other is connected to hosepipe (get my drift?) - Yes, it did a great job of our paving - the colours were restored - but there was no way of cleaning off the dirty wet surface apart from waiting until it dried and then spending hours brushing away the debris. So I wish it had a brush attachment ( I think the professional ones do?) - I was hoping it would shift the moss and weeds which are trapped in between the paving but it failed to do so without bringing up all the sand as well. SUMMARY - If had the choice I would prefer an even stronger Karcher preferably with a brush or some sort of a blower attachment to avoid having to spend so long brushing up the mess left behind. - I think this is a good machine for cleaning cars, bikes, garden furniture etc but not sure if I could really recommend it for cleaning large paved areas. - However, it is a good basic machine at a very reasonable price so I am awarding 4 stars.

A powerful machine that doesn't cost the earth

I have a patio area at the back of my house. It was starting to look rather tired and dark and when wet, it was beginning to get a little slippy. While the weather is still nice and I am able to get out in the garden, I decided to buy a pressure washer. I was prepared to spend up to a £100 pounds. Not knowing much about them, I thought that anything that came under this budget would be pretty lame and unable to do the job. I trotted off to my nearest garden centre and started to look at the various machines; some beastly monstrosities, some slightly smaller and more manageable looking. *Choosing the machine* While staring quizzically at the bunch of machines, a shop assistant came over to ask whether he could help me. I told him what I wanted the machine for; cleaning the patio, some outdoor furniture and my push bike. He pointed me in the direction of a couple of machine; one of which was this pressure washer and it was priced for £69.99. Recognising the brand name and the signature colours, I purchased the machine and brought it home. *Specification* * 1600 watt motor *100 bar operating pressure *90 bar rated water pressure *Water intake filter *Automatic stop/start *6 metre hose *Trigger gun *Offers 360 litre of water per hour *Setting up* The pressure washer comes with excellent instructions that told me where to connect the pipe and how to operate it. I connected the pipe that fitted onto the end of the tap; this connects in the same as a hose pipe. There is also a plug and mains cable that needs plugging into the main supply. This is a rather long lead and I did not need an extension cable as I thought I might do. The main base of the machine stays on the floor and has the switch to turn it off and on. I took hold of the gun part of the machine and turned on the tap and turned the machine on. The force of the water shot the pressure gum form my hand and sent it flying round my ankles, soaking me through! I quickly tamed the beast and took a firm hold of it. At this point I realised just how powerful it was going to be! *Operating the machine* I took aim at the patio and worked a flag at a time. I did not need to arch my back and bend towards the floor which was good. I could stand comfortably upright and simply direct it towards the floor. The machine is really noisy though, so pick what time you are going to use the machine. I do not think my neighbours would be very impressed if I had started jet washing early Sunday morning! I was amazed at how quickly the machine cleaned the patio and removed the grime that had been there for years. It ripped up the annoying weeds between the cracks and made the flags look shiny and new. After a while I got more confident with the machine and did silly things like write my name in the flags before blasting it all off! It is rather fun to use the machine, but you will get muddy and wet. My feet were soaked and I had mud splashes dripping from my eye brows! I forgot that the water I was spraying had to go somewhere though and my patio is a little uneven so the dirty water kept running back over the patches I had done. I had to stop and use a brush to brush the water and dirt into the flower beds. I think I should have spent more time planning the washing section by section and making sure my exit path was clear. This is something I will bear in mind next time. I also found that the jet wash sent the dirt flying over my newly washed windows and PVC door so I had to give these a spray down afterwards and a bit of a wipe. A downside to cleaning the patio was that the pressure washer pulled off one to two inches from the bottom of my newly creosoted fence. This was a fault of how I was controlling the machine, I was directing the jet wash towards the floor but it was so powerful it took some off the fence too. I had to go round and touch it up afterwards. *Results* I was really pleased with the results though, the patio came up so well and the flags looked brand new afterwards. I have used the jet wash on my bike and it was really useful for getting off the dirt in those awkward places such as under the chain and round the spokes. I jet washed plant pots and the garden bench and freshened everything up in the garden. *Storage* The main part of the machine has a yellow handle, so you can easily transport the machine around. There are little indentations so you can wrap the various leads around the machine making it easy to store. *Overall* For the price I paid, I am really impressed with the quality of the machine and how powerful it is. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a machine for the same sort of reasons. It is really reliable and easy to use.

            A great cleaning product.

We move house quite regularly and always find that the paths/patio/driveways are filthy. So after getting fed up of looking at the eyesores I finally convinced my husband to purchase a pressure washer andthis review is about the one we purchased - A Karcher 2.1. I won't go into the technical stuff as I really don't understand it and won't pretend I do. All I an tell you about is its ability to clean. This pressure washed comes with three attachments, a low pressure detergent gun, a dirt blaster lance (love that name) and another variable lance. Oh and a detergent tank which is removable at your pleasure. It is bright yellow in colour, like every other Karcher product I have come across and feels very robust and well made. The attachment all have their own little slot to go into with the detergent tank attaching to the back of the product. You then connect your hosepipe to the machine and attach whichever attachment you fancy to the trigger handle. This is done via a simple push and click system. Great for the technically challenged like me. It is easy to move around as well, which is great for me as I am not the strongest of people. However, the 6 metre hose also makes this easy as you do not need to move it constantly. I can do our entire patio with only one life of the actual unit. And boy does it clean. My husband was actually pretty shocked when he came home after I had first used it, we didn't realise that our patio and path were actually meant to be the same colour as each other before. It removed every little stain from the stones and really made it look new again. I also like that as soon as I release the trigger the water stops, meaning that if one of the kids is screaming I only have to let go to find out what the problem is, rather than having to flick a million switches. The three attachments are great, with us mainly using the 2 lances. The high pressure dirt blaster lance makes short work of any job and the variable lance is ideal for using around the edge of our patio/path where the grass meets the stones. We have yet to really use the detergent gun as we have found that the actual pressure from the water has been enough to deal with anything we have come across as yet. We have been told that it is safe to use on our car as well, however, my husband is not willing to try it just yet, as his car really is his pride an joy. We paid approximately £40 for this from a large known DIY retailer and this appears to be the average price at the moment. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to rid their garden of all the dirt build up on thier patio/path/driveway.
