I purchased the Karcher K2120 a year ago now and thought I would write a review to tell people just how good it really is. I know Karcher have a large range of pressure washers starting with the less powered K2 series all the way up to the K7 series. I wanted a pressure washer that was good for cleaning the car and doing the odd cleaning jobs around the garden but one which was very small and compact. I did not want to pay much for a pressure washer that was not going to be used very much but I did not want one that wasn't very good and was useless. Having looked around at many different brands I found the compact Karcher K2120 which seemed perfect. It is very small and compact but do not let this put you off, looks can be deceiving.
I paid £60.00 for my Karcher a year ago. There is often a special offer on a Karcher so shop around.
The specs of the K2120 are
1300w air cooled motor
100bar water pressure (although karchers website states 110, but my box states 100)
330 litre per hour flow rate
High pressure lance and dirt blaster lance
4 meter high pressure hose
integrated fine mesh water filter
Garden hose adapter
detergent suction hose with filter
Dimensions LxWxH in mm 280x176x443
1.4KW power usage
2 year guarantee
When I first opened my Karcher the first thing I wanted to try it on was the stone steps at the front of my house. I attached the dirt blaster lance, plugged in the karcher and then connected the water hose. This was all very simple and from opening the box I was away and cleaning within about 3 minutes. I turned the Karcher on and away I went. I pressed the automatic on off trigger and the high pressure water began to start. I could not believe how well the Karcher was cleaning the ground, it seemed to be instantly changing colour of the steps. I then realised that the ground had a pebbled effect which I had never noticed before.
The karcher is really quite fun to use and being able to see the results instantly spurred me on. I also have a painted brick wall at the front of the house. I was looking to paint the wall again as the paint had seen better days. I kept the dirt blaster lance on and pointed it at the wall. Instantly the Karcher began to take off any loose, flaking paint making the wall ready to paint again.
I then changed to the high pressure lance as the dirt blaster lance is too powerful for to clean cars. The Karcher found cleaning the car very easy, just point and press and that's it. Obviously you will probably want to then use a car shampoo and sponge but then rinse the car with the Karcher and your can will be clean in no time.
I have found lots of other things to clean with the Karcher such as terracotta pots which have changed colour. Green tericotta pots do not look great. Point the Karcher at it and in seconds they will look as good as new.
There is a tube which comes out of the Karcher which you can place inside of a cleaning solution that you may want to use. I have no tried this yet as I have not found a need for it. There has not been anything that I have tried to clean that has not worked with just the power of water. The karcher is very light and also has a built in carry handle making it very easy to move around.
Yes, you can get a more powerful pressure washer but I have not found the Karcher to struggle with any of the jobs I have tried to do with it and with a 2 year warranty you cant go wrong.
