kelkoo is a french site (eg the continental 'humour' in their latest advertising campaign - centreing on the comparison of a certain male organ) that purchased www.shopgenie.co.uk a freindly site that offered beenz and always found the cheapest deal. Well now it is no more and we are left with this portal/shopping/comparison site instead.

The organistion is poor, the merchants unrepresentative, it does cover plently of categories but so do others, and better (eg valuemad). For shop ratings i'd go to shopsmart and for books www.bookbrain.co.uk which is excellent.

They do have one spark of innovation which is the claim that they'll also search online auctions for products. This, if true would be excellent and would include many new, or 'almost new' bargains that would otherwise have been missed. Yet in at least 30 searches I have not yet seen one auction result, one wonders exactly what is included in this category.

The only things that take me back to kelkoo are:
a) their excellent beenz offers
b) the hope that they might improve.
Visit the site, see for yourself, and then leave knowing exactly how not to do it.
