Advantages: Large database
Disadvantages: lousy search facility
Other than PC Index (www.pcindex.co.uk) , there is another price searching web site called Price Watch UK (www.pricewatch.co.uk). Price Watch UK seems to have a large database as well, but it is rather unorganised. To us, otherwise having what we want in the database (the price), we want to be able to search for these prices easily. This is where the weakness of Price Watch UK lies. For example, searching for Celeron 566 yields a huge number of result. This includes HP Brio PC equipped with Celeron 566, which isn't really what we want. It is the same even when I specify I want to search in the CPU category. More specific search yields better result. Searching "75GXP" for the IBM 75GXP hardisk, I got exactly what I want, and found a few online retailer selling this model. All in all, if you know exactly what you want, Price Watch UK is a good place to start. If you want a more general search like Hardisk from 10Gb to 13Gb, you're better off starting at PC Index. Make use of the sophisticated search facility PC Index provides. After identifying a specific product, double check the price at Price Watch UK. Good luck.
