I have to admit, starting out on married life, I wasn't the best cook in the world, and that's being kind to myself, in fact, I was terrible and was put to shame by my wife's efforts in the kitchen. This is a new book to my library of cookbooks. I have always loved the Good Housekeeping books, but was really pleased with this one. The section talks about pots & pans, knives, blenders, mixers etc and is kind of short. It's been done so much better in other books that I don't think they really needed to bother with it here. ... This is the only coockery book that I actually use all the time, as opposed to just pulling out when I want something different. Cookery Book - Good Housekeeping Institute It's a boring title and it has none of the glamour associated with the new wave of celeb chefs - but this is still the top cookery book there is, for a whole host of reasons. Now re-issued in a 50th anniversary edition, this is a cookery book which really does have something for everyone. ... Read the complete review
