2000 AD Comics in general

Description: Genre: Graphic Novels / Comics / Cult British sci-fi comic featuring Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog and others.

Newest Review: ... increase in quality and so i decided to drop Marvel comics in favour of the Science Fiction themed 2000AD. There are a number of things that the comic does that have really pulled me in. Due to its weekly publication, cliffhangers are less irritating and stories are resolved more quickly, rather then taking 3 to 6 months as with Marvel. Because each story is only give 5 to 7 pages per Prog, ... more

... the stories are quickpaced and contain plenty of plot progression, unlike the current trend in Marvel and DC for Decompression and long storyarcs. To cope with the publication cycle, 2000AD regularly rotates different characters, stories and creator...more

In March, i picked up prog 1627 of 2000AD, and have been collecting the weekly comic since (at the time of writing, the next prog will be 1647). After just a few issues, i was hooked. I was an avid reader of Marvel comics for many years, specifically Spider-Man and the Avengers, but as time went on these characters became stagnant, with little plot progression in each issue and little variety. the price per issue was recently increased aswell, despite no apparent increase in quality and so i decided to drop Marvel comics in favour of the Science Fiction themed 2000AD. There are a number of things that the comic does that have really pulled me in. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Some reboot, these guys rebot (549 words)

I picked up 2000AD back on issue 1600 (as I write this I'm waiting on 1642) so I've barely been collecting a year at this stage. Still though, its easy to see in that time just why its one of the few comics to stay in circulation since the 70s and not be totally cheesy. 2000AD isn't a single comic or story, instead its an anothology of various science fiction stories from a number of different writers and artists including Alan Moore amongst many many others. Consistantly allowing new talent the opportunity to rise up and be seen its more of an equal ground than other comics which are only done by one or two guys at any one time. Currently the line up includes ...  Read the complete review

There hasn't been a review of 2000ad on this site for some time so I thought it was about time we were up to date. Re-invention, re-boot, re-imagine! All words used in the film and media industry to "breath new life" into tired old concepts. Not so with 2000ad. From the first issue of this science fiction/fantasy anthology in 1977, the comic has constantly pushed new boundaries with storytelling, art, and format. And it has never stopped. Granted there have been rough patches, particularly with the Stallone/Dredd film, but there has always been something to carry it through. Lets start with Judge Dredd. Appearing in every issue bar 3 (I think), Dredd ...  Read the complete review

There was a time, long ago, in the 1980s, know as the "Golden Age" of British comics. It was a time of Judges Dredd and Anderson, a time when Johnny Alpha stood astride the mutant gheto of Milton Keynes along side his best mate Wulf, and his hammer.T'was a wonderous time, and it was due mainly to the efforts of those at 2000AD publications, who regularly produced new, goundbreaking comic stories. Now, sadly, that time has passed.Wulf and his hammer have passed, Alpha sacrificed himself for the good of mutants everywhere, and Dredd has become a sad cliche, little more than a shadow of his former self. Where once there was a satire on American society ...  Read the complete review
