As a present for my birthday a couple of years ago, my friend got me this book - she told me that she owned it and commended it highly! It's basically a book about health, beauty (and products) and wellbeing, with a focus on natural products.

THE LAYOUT

The book consists of 7 main sections: Make up, skin, fast fixes, the body, hair, fragrance, and wellbeing. It also has a list of helpful sources and recommended reading (aka 'beauty bookshelf')

Within the sections, this book is packed with packed with useful factual information,

'problems and solutions',

recipes,

suggestions,

glossaries of terms used when describing certain products

diagrams (e.g to illustrate different face shapes and yoga postures)

tried and tested items - very useful as new entries are flagged up, there is a brief description of the products, and advantages and disadvantages, according to the people who tested them - giving an honest all round view of each reviewed product. There is also a 'best budget buy', which I found excellent, as I don't like spending hundreds of pounds just on beauty products!

I really liked the layout of this book - it's really useful for finding specific information, but also if you're looking through the whole book, it's nicely broken up with photos and coloured pages.

OVERALL OPINION

I think this is an excellent book that is absolutely brimming with information that I actually want to know about. The only drawbacks I can think of are that it is quite heavy and some of the products may be discontinued. For me, it will remain a very useful reference book.

SOME FRIENDLY ADVICE

If you have the old edition, I wouldn't recommend buying the new edition as it is largely the same (I compared it in a charity shop ;)

The book's really useful to refer to before buying a product

You may be able to pick it up really cheaply from a charity shop! I recommend Oxfam book shops!

Don't put it on a flimsy bookshelf!
