Advantages: Engrossing, interesting, exciting, vouyerisitic.

Disadvantages: Sometimes the characters information is too short making you long for more information youll never get

Although at first the book may seem like a novelty, with only 6 or 7 pure pages of plot at the end, the fantastic descriptions and 'helpful footnotes' bring out the vouyer in all of us , leaving us to turn page after page to discover how all the characters interact. Ryman has been able to make us feel like we know the people and we want to know more about their lives and how they will cope, after that tube journey. There are some obvious novel points such as the adverts before each section and the inclusion of a bird (named 'who?') as one of the 252 passengers ( plus the driver hence 253)

Each character is given a page about them and relevant footnotes where necessary. We are first told how they look and what they are doing. Secondly we get an outside opinion and a basic description of their life
The 3rd and final section is the most gripping section and while you can skim other parts it is this section which details what they are thinking and some secrets about their life.

Although each person seems to be independant it acctually turns out that most people are intertwinned if you look carefully enough, and the final 6 pages of plot at the end are..... well, i don't want too spoil that for you, but it is a shock.

Don't worry if you don't want to pick it up and read it in one go, in fact its perfect for the tube itself, but don't blame me when the characters suddenly appear to be sitting next to you when your recognise the story about the drunk as the bloke who just got on.

Its simple when you think about it, but then thats what makes the book a great read.
