Freedom's Challenge - Anne McCaffrey:
... McCaffrey's writing, and it's a satisfactory read. However, while you might be able to pick up the various characters and situations that have happened without reading the other two books ahead of this one, I wouldn't recommend it.
I first read these books in 1998, just before the series was completed.

Green Eggs and Ham - Dr Seuss ... the Dr Seuss classic collection because we have quite a few of the books at home including the famous Cat In The Hat and Hop On Pop but this one seems to have managed to escape our shelves. It wasn't surprising therefore when my son grabbed it from the shelf in the local library and brought it over to me, as he already loves the strange and funny rhymes in the Dr Seuss books. The style of rhyming in the book is just pure genius and I don't think there has been anything quite like this since it was written all those years ago. A Thousand Splendid Suns - Khaled Hosseini ... conditions and their search for happiness. Thousand Splendid Suns covers three decades of Afghan history and it is a deeply moving account of family and friendship. This is another outstanding novel and a worthwhile read. It may not be as great as The Kite Runner but it is not far off. It is about Miriam who is 15 and after her Mother dies she is sent away to Kabul where she married Rasheed who was very unhappy and bitter and it much older than she is, in fact 30 years her senior.It tells of the unhappy times in which Miriam had after to had multiple miscarriages.
