Advantages: Moves along at a good pace
Disadvantages: Bit predictable
This offerring from James Patterson in conjunction withAndrew Gross is the third outing for the Women's Murder Club and while it is not necessary to have read the previous two in the series to enjoy thi book it does help as you get a better understanding of the main characters and how they all reached this point in their lives ad how the club was formed.
The main caracter is a homicide detective called Lindsay Boxer who works for the San Francisco police force, while going for a run she sees the house explode in front of her due to a bomb and set alight, she rushes in and manages to save the life of a small boy, a second device is then discovered however this has been left just to taunt the police.
Te owner of the house is a well known businessman and when a second business man is killed a few days later and a mocking note is left Lindsay nlists the help of her friends to try and track down the killers who claim to be part of a group called the August Spies who want an end to world poverty and action by world leaders, all of whome are due to visit the cityfor a G8 conference.
This is the third and weakest of the books so far in the series, personally I felt that the first two are much better. I found this one to be a bit to predictable which is unusual for a Patterson novel.
It is an easy read with short punchy chapters which is the writing style of Patterson, he has always favoured short two to three page chapters which allows him to switch between characters and also keep the pace of the story moving along.
For me this is a slightly disappointing offerring and distinctly average hence the three star award.
Summary: Weakest of the three
