Underground London - Stephen Smith:
... a Londoner (by acquisition rather than by birth) I m fascinated with the "hidden" aspects of London which you can walk right by or over without ever really knowing they were there. That s in fact the main reason why I bought this book - hoping that it would reveal some of those hidden places to me. Overall I have to say I wasn t disappointed in that specific regard -there is some nice coverage of the g... Read the full review: So-so read with some worthwhile elements by auburnette |

The Darkest Evening of the Year - Dean Koontz ... have just, literally moments ago, finished reading this book by Dean Koontz who I have to say is one of my favourite authors. I bought it on Amazon for about £3 a while back and have put off reading it as I worried it might stray from Dean Koontz s usual "no animals were harmed in the writing of this book" formula. At 440 pages long it isn t his usual length but kept me busy for a couple of days. I read really quickly though and Dean would need to write 5-6 books a week to keep me in stock! It is dedicated to his wife Gerda and her "golden daughter" who was obviously of the furry dog variety as the book is about Amy Redwing and her boyfriend Bria... Centurion (Roman Legion 8) - Simon Scarrow ... have read all 8 of Simon Scarrows Roman Legion books and i would say this is definetly within the top 3! Since the first book we have come to love the now Centurion Cato and Macro on their struggle through Gaul, Britain and Syria. They though they had come through the toughest battles they were ever likely to be faced with, how wrong were they. Personally i enjoyed the first two books the most, its where we got to learn about Cato and Macro s personalities and backgrounds, now however we see that Cato is no longer the scared inexperienced boy he used to be, in many ways he is older than his veteran friend Macro. Macro is soldier through and through, simply see s a... Read the full review: A fine recovery from number 7! by B_O_M_B_A_ |
