... About Carole Matthews == I have read a few of Carole Matthews books now, but this was the first one I ever read. For me her writing style is very much like Belinda Jones writing, if you have ever read any of her books (I Love Capri, Divas Las Vegas, The Love Academy). Who is one of my favourite authors, so when I realised I loved Carole Matthews books just as much, I started buying lots of her books! Matthews... Batavia's Graveyard: The True Story Of The Mad Heretic Who Led History's Bloodiest Mutiny - Mike Dash ... is a great yarn, a tale so chilling it almost defies belief. The story is as follows: In 1628 the Dutch ship Batavia runs aground on a rocky island off the coast of Australia. Oz is still "undiscovered" at this stage and the 200 survivors are in a fix. Thousands of miles away from anywhere and particularly the comfort and security of civilisation. The captain rigs up a dinghy and sets sail for help in the Dutch East Indies leaving the rest of the crew to fend for themselves. A Lord of the Flies type scenario ensues. Power shifts to a religious nut case called Corneliuz. Corneliuz was a follower of a religious sect which basically believed that whatev...
