Mission Canyon - Meg Gardiner:
... Gardiner introduced lawyer and fantasy writer Evan Delaney and her boyfriend Jesse in CHINA LAKE. I assumed that this amateur sleuth thriller (an uneasy combination) would be a standalone as the scenario and characters seemed to have somewhat limited scope for series development. It seems I was wrong. Gardiner sets her novels in her native California, although she now lives in Surrey, UK, and her books were publ... Read the full review: A crazy mission by elkiedee |

The Bluest Eye - Toni Morrison ... Backdrop of the Bluest Eye is Americas mid-west, Lorain Ohio to be exact. The story zooms in on the world of Pecola Breedlove and her two closest allies, sisters Claudia and Frieda MacTeer. The story explores the narrative of the young, black female child in a world where ideals of white superiority and beauty are dominant. Indeed this is illustrated when Claudia narrates- all the world had agreed a blue-eyed, yellow haired, pink-skinned doll was what every girl child treasured. Pecola s narrative is harrowing. As her home life is highlighted, themes of domestic violence, neglect and incest come to the fore. A broken home and world consisting of a broken mother who... The Darkest Heart - Nancy A Collins ... Heart is, according to author Nancy.A.Collins, the final Sonja Blue novel ever likely to be written. This seems to be fair enough as Sonja has appeared not just in her own series but also as a cameo in many of Collins other works over a period of a just over 10 years. In that time, Sonja has undergone many changes and faced many dangers but the biggest threat to her existance has always been herself and her ongoing inner conflict with the vampire parasite that lives inside her that she has named "The Other!" This latest installment opens with a short story that has previously been published independently but also as one of the opening chapters of Paint... Along Came a Spider - James Patterson ... Patterson has to be one of the best crime authors of the modern day. His novel "Along Came A Spider" is the first of what has become known as the Alex Cross series which follows the life of homicide detective Alex Cross on his journeys in catching some extremely dangerous criminals and bringing them to justice. I found this particular novel to be a constant thriller with well written and prose and dialogue combining to make it a real page turner. When I say it s a book that can t be put down I genuinely mean that! Not only will you race through this one but I can promise it will turn you into a big fan of not only the rest of the Cross series, but Patterso...
