The Rough Guide to Tuscany and Umbria - Jonathan Buckley:
... sang the praises of the general Rough Guide to Italy elsewhere, but revisiting again this regional guide in the process of writing up our trip to Tuscany two years ago, I was reminded of how good indeed this particular Rough Guide is. I bought it because I wanted to supplement the general Rough Guide to Italy I had with more detailed coverage of the region in which we were going to spend the whole trip - and I w... To the Rescue - Mary Risk ... run a reading club in school, and I frequently pick up books from local charity shops to add to it. On a recent visit to a charity shop I picked up this book from The Animals of Farthing Wood collection, that used to be on television, for 25p. It was in perfect condition, so I decided to buy it even though I had never read any of the other stories, nor saw the show on TV. This book To the Rescue is by Mary Risk, and is part of the range of stories about the animals leaving Farthing Wood to get to White Deer Park, a nature reserve, since the humans have begun digging up and destroying their beloved Farthing Wood. According to the back of this book, it origina... Read the full review: The animals of farthing wood to the rescue - not a popular one amongst my reading club! by karlsm93 |

World War Hulk - Greg Pak ... following on from the excellent Planet Hulk, World War Hulk proves to be something of a disappointment. It s a fun read, watching the big guy smack around a plethora of Marvel Universe mainstays, but ultimately being part of giant Marvel crossover you can t help but feel that, by the end, you ve missed out on quite a bit of story. Characters appear and then disappear with alarming speed, often with little real impact on the tale. Events that seem major are often glossed over (only to be dealt with in detail in some other title) and ultimately the whole thing hinges on a twist that I just didn t buy. Chiefly though, the disappointment comes from the artwork of... Read the full review: Big dumb fun but hardly a classic by captaincharisma |

Planet Hulk: The Incredible Hulk - Greg Pak ... too dangerous to live on Earth, Hulk is shot into space only to find himself crash landing on a planet where he must fight for his life in the gladiatorial arena. But is he here to save the planet, or destroy it? Greg Pak proves himself to be the best new writer the Green Goliath s been gifted since Peter David picked up the reigns in the late 1980s. Here he s crafted an action packed and original storyline which still finds time for some slower and more heartfelt moments, creating believable emotional resonance for a character who usually rarely wants much more than to smash or be left alone. The artwork by Pagulayan and Lopresti shines, detailed yet easily reada... Read the full review: A genuinely great read. by captaincharisma |
