Ultimate Christmas - Jane Newdick:
... picked up a copy of this big hardback book Ultimate Christmas at a market years ago. I remember spotting it as it really stood out on the shelves. The book is over 11 inches in height and 9 inches wide, and it has 192 pages. The cover design is like a present that has been wrapped in red paper with gold stars and tied with a big gold bow. The title and author s name are printed on a white tag attached to the bow... Read the full review: You should judge this book by its cover! by kerrypanda |

Wall and Piece - Bansky ... the wall (Literally) Superb softback book showcasing the subversive and humourous street art of the shadowy Banksy . Banksy is a now hugely successful international artist though his true identity is not absolutley certain. His sprayed stencil art pieces appear in public, on walls, roads, trains and can be unnoticed for days, be scrubbed away or defaced by others. A true wry humour runs through all the work, the Mona Lisa with a rocket launcher or a masked rioter throwing a bouquet. The works done on segregating walls in Israel/Palestine have an added poignancy at the moment. Other reoccuring themes are rats, monkeys and policemen, all memorably up to no good. ... The Art Book - Phaidon ... The Art Book published by Phaidon is a very useful companion indeed. Many a time I gratefully received help from its insightful pages whilst undertaking research for my Illustration degree. Basically, the book is an A to Z guide of artists - starting with Jacques Laurent AGASSE, and ending with Francisco de ZURBARAN. There are 500 entries in total, ranging from the old masters, all the way through to the present day. On each page the name of the artist is presented in bold, whilst underneath is an example of each painters work. There is a also a description of the work, and sometimes additional info on the artists themselves. As I said earlier, an invaluable sour... Wall and Piece - Bansky ... I ve not heard of anyone who doesn t like or appreciate art, it comes in many forms, big or small, but when it comes to Graffiti, because it s usually displayed on public places, it comes into the catagory of crime. I don t think people who spray their name, or nickname onto a wall (tagging) should be called artists, usually just a nuisance. A lot of the time they help make a place look threatening and uninviting. You do have to appreciate however, that some graffiti, is amazing, very clever and usually always unique. Not often though, does it have a serious, deep meaning, or political view, capable of making you stop and think, that s where Banksy comes into h...
