An Evening with Marilyn - Douglas Kirkland:
... first became a fan of Marilyn Monroe some twenty years ago. I built up an impressive collection of books, postcards and other memorabilia, but in the 1990s, I had my children and Marilyn became less important in my life. I sold some of my collection, lost other pieces between house moves and until last year, I only had a few items left. Then last year, my interest in Marilyn was reignited. I joined some Marilyn ya... Time - Andy Goldsworthy ... Goldsworthy is an environmental artist. He makes works of art which exist in the environment, reflect it, and are influenced or controlled by it. Within his artwork, made from natural materials and, for the most part, within a natural setting, timing and context are as important as the manufactured work itself. An Andy Goldsworthy work may be as simple as a ‘leaf throw’, a photographed capture of the scatter of leaves against a sky, or as complicated as the large-scale earthworks he has created (e.g. at Lambton) or the spectacular clay wall made for use with the Ballet Atlantique in Dignes, France- a beautiful piece of artfully cracked clay wit... And yet despite all this, or rather because of it, your attention is drawn to the tenderne... Read the full review: Short-cuts to the Soul by |
