... was gripped from the outset with this book and when I came to post my review I was surprised by such a mixture of reviews. I d like to have given it 4.5 stars but as that s not an option, 5 it is. A really fast thriller that is truly entertaining. Such an amazing concept for a story line and because I really did want to know what was going to happen I would ve had to have kept reading even if I wasn t enjoying it. ... No Time For Goodbye - Linwood Barclay ... thoroughly enjoyed the first three quarters of this book; it was intriguing, fast-paced and I couldn t put it down. Brilliant concept for a novel, a teenage girl wakes up and her family have disappeared, just vanished into thin air - there s no mum in the kitchen, no brother to annoy her, no father sitting reading the paper, just an empty house. Twenty five years later, a TV programme is made about the disappearance and things start to happen. Sadly as the mystery unravels it all gets a bit far-fetched, I found the baddies one dimensional and beyond belief - just a step too far. No Time For Goodbye - Linwood Barclay ... picked this paperback thriller up in Waterstones for £2.99 - special offer price for spending over £10. It didn t look like my kind of book but my husband will read anything so I thought why not? He read it and told me I had to read it too. This thriller is a proper page turner from start to finish. Every twist and turn kept me wondering what would happen next. And each time I thought I knew what was happening something would change and catch me out. I have never read any of Linwood Barclay s books before this one but I certainly will now. I ve been trying to think of a word or two that sums it up but I just can t. It s spine chilling in places which made me want to stop reading when I was on my own. It s gripping and intense making you just want to read on and on until you find out what s going on and reveal the mystery that starts on the first page. It s emotionally moving as you share the family s trauma as they go through various upsets when they try and uncover what actually happened all those years ago.
