Teach Yourself C - Herbert Schildt ... have been programming computers in various forms since I was eight years old when I used to bash out crappy games for the Sinclair Spectrum. These days I program for more serious reasons (most of the time) – but I am far from being a professional programmer. As a student physicist, I spend a great deal of time solving problems through computer programming. Although my code usually works if a ‘proper’ programmer took a look at it – he/she would probably say something along the lines of ‘ugh!’. So I thought that it was about time I learnt how to do things properly – give up the ancient Fortran programming language – and... Read the full review: First Impressions can be Deceptive by Kodang |

ASP Books in general ... borrowed "Sams teach Yourself ASP 2.0 in 21 days" from a friend of mine, and was so impressed by what I had read, that I decided to buy a copy for myself. It is a great book, and although it is on the expensive side, you could do a lot worse. It actually is better value for money than other ASP books that I've looked at, so there are no problems there. It goes through every point clearly, not making you feel stupid, but without over complicating things, and making them difficult to understand. Unlike other books, it has a quiz section after every day/chapter, so you can work through it all, but you can't cheat- the answers for those are actual... HTML Books in general ... didn't believe I could learn so much in a few days! "Learn HTML in a weekend (Revised Edition)" is written by Steven E Callihan and is written for beginners. The cheapest I could find it on the net is £18.59 (including p & p) with StudentBookWorld. It comes with a CD which contains software, gifs, templates, a Web Art sampler as well as a collection of fonts. Besides a computer running Windows you need only three things to learn HTML from the book: 1. A graphical web browser connected to the internet. This should be Netscape Navigator (version 3.0 or higher) or Internet Explorer (version 3.0 or higher). 2. A text editor. if you are using ...
