GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka: v. 1 - Fujisawa Tohru:
... feel good factor from stories that are about teachers who make a real impact on their students lives, nothing quite like it, eh? Back in 1957 we famously got Sidney Poitier in To Sir With Love. He took a class of society rejects who caused numerous other teachers to resign and turned their lives around with lessons about respect and discipline. The film, set upon the eve of the swinging 60 s dealt w... Read the full review: It's No Car, It's Great Teacher Onizuka! by shroud |

Superman: For Tomorrow, Volume 1 - Brian Azzarello ... his introduction to this dark and thoughtful issue, Brian Azzarello describes how honoured and excited he was to be asked to write Superman. Having been an author of Batman Hush before, he had involved Superman when the two characters met up, albeit in rather violent circumstances. Now, however, with the pressure on to create a dark and moved and guilt-ridden Superman, Azzarello manages to give us a very morbid and morose feel to the proceedings, with the superhero feeling very down after the events of the previous episodes. Chronicling episodes 204-209 of Superman, it deals with the worldwide emotions after hundreds of thousands of people have just vanished. Superma... Wolverine First Class: Ninjas, Gods And Divas - Peter David ... latest line of Wolverine comics seems to have taken a bit of a different tack to previous years. Harkening back to the early days of some of the X-Men, Wolverine First Class features four individual episodes (13-16) with Wolverine being joined by Kitty Pride (aka Shadowcat). There is also an extra episode, X-Men/Power Pack #1. The first tale spans the first two episodes, and sees Wolvie and Kitty as they visit a museum. However, there is a demon mask in the museum, and The Hand (evil ninja dudes) are after getting their hands on it. The museum curator asks Wolvie for help. These episodes were the more enjoyable of the edition, and also featured Daredevil and Electra,... Read the full review: Wolverine has a Kitty along for the ride.... by pmcds |

Marvel Chronicle: A Year by Year History - Tom DeFalco ... of the hardcover box in which it s encased and a cover die-cut to a capital M, DK Publishing s MARVEL CHRONICLE: A YEAR BY YEAR HISTORY impresses. Yes, there are other expansive histories available of the giant comics group and you may already own many of them if you re a fan but you ll want this one to share your shelf space, too, true believers. Smashing 70 years of achievements and accidents into 350 pages, the book takes a naturally chronological look back, month by month, year by year. Initially, starting with 1939, each year earns its own two-page spread. But once CHRONICLE hits 1962, the year that saw the birth of Spider-Man, The Hulk and Thor, among ot...
