fragglerock2006 The Silliest Joke Book Ever - Puffin Books
... s that time of year again when very soon we ll all be subjected to a barrage of particulary unfunny christmas cracker jokes around the dinner table. So I thought I would review a Joke book, that is actually very funny. "The Silliest Joke Book Ever" is published by Puffin Books and was created by people who donated their jokes to make this book. The proceeds from the book sales go to the Jeans for Genes campaign, led by The Great Ormond Street Hospital, a children s charity so a very good cause! Because so many people donated their jokes, they had to be judged and make the shortlist to go into the book, this means that there are no rubbish ones and none that...

harriet100 Bad Dreams - Anne Fine
... have read quite a few Anne Fine books and really enjoyed them. I picked this one up, expecting the same fun style of writing which Anne Fine showed in the other books in the series. However, I really did not enjoy this book, I found it weird and unnerving, it may be because I am not that keen on thriller or spooky style books, but I really did not enjoy reading it, and did not even finish the book. It feels completely different to the rest of the books in the series, and is the only one that I would not wholeheartedly recommend. Maybe if you have older kids who like scary style books, then they may enjoy this one, but I think that younger children especially would proba...

harriet100 The First Four Years - Laura Ingalls Wilder
... have read the other books in the series from cover to cover many many times, enjoying every page! I was really excited when I saw that there was a book in the series that I hadn t read, and looking forward to reading it. However getting hold of it was not easy - online it was too expensive, so I kept my eyes open and eventually found a copy in a charity shop for just 50p. However it has a completely different feel to the rest of the books, I am not sure if it was written by someone else from notes left by Laura, or if it is an original, but it just is not quite the same as the rest in the series, I was dissapointed to be honest. Maybe the other factors, is that is is t...
