Farmer Boy - Laura Ingalls Wilder:
... is the account of the childhood of Laura Ingalls Wilder s future husband, Almanzo Wilder. This book has a slightly different style to the other books in the series. It is full of interesting stories and happenings from Almanzo s childhood, providing a "bit extra" for lovers of the series. My favourite story in this book, is the story of the time that Almanzo went out to play in the snow when his father... Read the full review: Captivating story by harriet100 |

Snappy Sounds: Christmas ... is a lovely musical pop-up book all about Christmas. Based in the fictional town of Snappy, it tells of a group of animals all preparing for Christmas by playing in the snow, sledging, carol singing and the like. Each page has a musical tune and pop-up scene, as well as a full colour illustration to go with it. What I love about this book is that it has so much going on for the senses. Not only is it bright, and filled with full colour pics, it also has the pop up and then the tune. It s a really nice book in that way, and it s clear that no expense has been spared. The inclusion of animals makes it fun for kids because we all know little ones love their animals a... Read the full review: Stunning Crimbo book by bruffyboy |

Baby's First Christmas (Book and CD) - Fiona Watt ... is a weird little board book for a baby, with flaps on each page to make it easy to open. I say it s weird, because it really has no story to it. Basically, each page is a different Christmasy scene, such as a robin sat on a tree by a snowman, and it tells you about that scene. It doesn t rhyme, and the language is certainly more appropriate for a toddler than a new-born as the title suggests. The illustrations are photographs of craft made scenes. For example, the snowman is made of wool and fabric, and then they have taken a photo of it and reproduced it on the page in full colour. The result is a book that is really nice to look at. I mean, if they ve used a but... Read the full review: A rubbish Christmas book! by bruffyboy |

Spot Bakes a Cake - Eric Hill ... lovely little board book is all about Spot helping his mum make a cake and card for dad s birthday. However, silly little Spot makes more trouble and mess than help, and the little mouse that accompanies him in the book is just as bad too. I like this story because it s about celebrating daddy which I think is something often overlooked in the world of books. It s a nice story about getting involved and having a bit of fun, and encourages parent child bonding and appreciation so it s all good. Children who love animals will love it because it is full of them; not just dogs but also the little mouse who really makes no sense in being there except to add to the anima...
