A heart wrenching book describing a mothers abuse towards her son (A Child Called 'It' - Dave Pelzer)

Advantages: the book is a shor t yet insightful read Disadvantages: not for the faint hearted This book is not for the faint hearted. It is the first of a trilogy of the life of David Pelzer. I purchased this book after seeing the author on a popular daytime television programme. It is a dramatic book in which the author recalls events from his childhood. The author recalls how his mother disliked him and punished him in the most unimaginable ways, from making him live in the garage to trying to gas him in a locked bathroom. This book defiantly gives the reader an insight to child cruelty in the most extreme fashion. The author was accused of making it up at one point as it is so extreme, but I think all claims were dropped. It is pretty horrific and heart wrenching, a box of tissues at the side of the reader is perhaps recommended. If you fancy reading this book on a budget it is perhaps wise to buy it off Ebay as you can pick it up for about two pounds including postage and packaging. Summary: a sad tale of the childhood of the author. |
