Advantages: True life story
Disadvantages: The subject it is about can be a bit disturbing
This is one of the most upsetting books that I have ever read. It is a true life story of a little boy who was rased in an abused home and in later life is coming to terms with it.
I have read his other books on his upbringing which are also as disturbing as this one. I was very moved by his words and that still to this day he has not a bad word to say about people and has such a kind heart.
It is hard to believe that there are children out there suffering and much worse than David Pelzer but his story gave you an insight into just what they go through.
He was locked in a cupboard, made to do all the chores, dressed in dirty scruffy clothing and also kept away from school. His other siblings were not subjected to this tourcher which was supprising and his mother only ever referd to him as it so the other children picked up on this and would do the same.
He was subjected to physical and mental abuse for a very long time and I can not understand why there was no one there to help him and take him out of this situation.
I cried when reading this book but I still wasn't able to put it down. It made me reflect on my own life and my upbringing and how I rase my own children. I could never imagine treating my children in this way.
I loved that it was true life and that it was so well written. There were alot of facts in the book that he spoke from his heart. I found some comfort is his ending words and how happy he has became. I can see him as a loving farther and husband.
I will say that this is a great book in its own way it is just unfortunate that it is real life and things like that really happen to children.
Summary: Good true life book which makes you reflect
