Premium Review A Friend Of The Family - Lisa Jewell: Brotherly Love! (676 words)
by - written on 11/07/09 (Very useful, 43 readings)
Rating:

I have read a couple of Lisa Jewell's books and enjoyed them, and recently bought a couple more that I hadn't yet read, one of which was 'A friend of the family.' I must admit that from the blurb on the back, this did not sound like one of her most interesting stories, but I purchased it anyway, hoping it would be as good as the other ones I have read by her. ~The Story~ Meet the London family. Family life never seems to be ‘normal’. With arguements, new relationships, disagreements, new arrivals, break ups - you never know what’s going to happen next! The London family are no exception.... Although quirky and slightly eccentric they take the role of proud parents very seriously and love to warmly welcome their boys back into their home whenever necessary. Tony is the eldest London son - recently divorced and experiencing some insecurities about himself and his life. He soon starts to have some feelings that he perhaps shouldn’t have. Sean is the middle ...  Read the complete review

Bernie London has been happily married for almost 40 years and during that time has raised three sons – Tony, Sean and Ned. Tony is the eldest at 34. A successful businessman, he has been married, divorced and is now in another relationship with fun-loving girl Ness. Sean, 30, is a professional writer and had major success with his debut novel but he is now suffering from writers block. He has just met a slightly older woman, Millie, and his life is about to be turned upside-down. Ned, the youngest at 27, left the close-knit family behind 3 years ago to start a new life in Australia with Monica, a girl he met in a bar. The move across the world was a spur of the moment ...  Read the complete review
