A Great Deliverance A very easy read based on the Inspector Thomas Lynley and Sergeant Barbara Havers characters that are based at Scotland Yard. It is another crime investigation story. They discovered a body of a girl or you can say a young woman of 19 years who had her Sunday best clothes on and in her lap was an axe in an old stone barn in a small village of Keldale. Introduction This is the first in the Inspector Lynley series, and describes how Lynley and Sergeant Havers meet. Strangely though, 'A Suitable Vengeance', which is the fourth in the series, goes back to the period before 'A Great Deliverance' and describes the early relationship between Lynley and his friends, St James, Deborah and Helen and in a way is a better place to start than this book. Unfortunately, 'A Suitable Vengeance' does not feature Havers and I love the somewhat rocky relationship between Lynley and Havers, so inaccurately described in the television series.
