Advantages: Lots of ideas that enable you to make a difference

Disadvantages: A lot of subjects are talked about but not given a lot of detail

250 pages of advice and detail of living a greener life. A lot of the ideas given also save you money as well.

The book is divided into three sections:
1)The green outdoors: this in turn is split into three section:
i) growing your own food - from how to look after the soil, to sowing the seeds. From pruning trees and getting rid of pests. This section helps you to grow your own fruit and veg successfully.
ii) Wild Food - this is all about identifying food for free. From picking to trapping, shooting to catching. Plenty of photographs to help you identify e.g. various types of mushrooms.
iii) Livestock - if you have ever thought about keeping your own livestock then this gives you the advice you need on the different breeds. It includes chickens, cows, sheep, pigs etc.

2) The green you:
Split into three sections:
i) Making and creating: this is my favourite section. It gives you an insight into many crafts e.g. candlemaking, soap making, spinning, tappestry, bath oils, organic cleaning materials. Have a go at them all. Amazing what you can do yourself.
ii) Using your produce: this section contains lots of recipes for bread and cakes. Tells you how to preserve and how to dry, smoke, pickle and ferment. Recipes for jams, marmalades and pickles. It even has a recipe for making tomato ketchup!
iii) Home Brewing; make your own bitter, wine, vinegar and cider.

3)The Green House:
This is a relatively small section with a few ideas to make you think. Not only does it cover the usual i.e. alternative energy, it also covers other ideas like using natural paints and how to get the different colours.

A great book to get you thinking and enable you to make changes that may not be massive but enough to add up to being greener.

Summary: Superb book that enables you to make small changes that are of benefit to you and the planet.
