•¤• Background •¤• Terry Brooks, most famous for the high-fantasy Shannara series, turned his hand to a more ‘real world’ style – well, modern USA-set, but with demons and woodland creatures abound. The Word And The Void trilogy contains, somewhat unsurprisingly, three books: Running With The Demon, A Knight Of The Word, and Angel Fire East. All three are currently available in paperback form, and as you can see, this is a review of the second instalment. Now, despite not having been entirely convinced by the opening novel in the Word and the Void series, here I am with book two. Really, unless the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review indeed (195 words)
by - written on 13/10/01 (Useful, 22 readings)
Rating:

I liked this sequel--I thought it was even a bit better than the original. Nest is feeling adrift and alone with all her friends and family gone. John Ross, on the other hand, has quit his Knight of the Word position in despair, and for the first time has a life. And no magic. He has a girlfriend, and they work together at a homeless shelter. But the demons have not forgotten him, and Nest Freemark is sent to warn him and to try to get him to take his responsibilities on again, before it is too late.
