... As we catch up with Nest’s life, she is facing choices: she has grown up now, and must decide where her future lies. Does she sell her family home in Hopewell, using the money to fund her studies and sports career? Or does she hold on to her past, and in the process keep her promise to Pick to help care for the park? If you haven’t read my opinion on Running with the Demon, I should probably explain who Pick is. Or, *what* Pick is – a sylvan, a six-inch-high creature made of twigs and moss and magi...more

John Ross, on the other hand, has quit his Knight of the Word position in despair, and for the first time has a life. And no magic. He has a girlfriend, and they work together at a homeless shelter. But the demons have not forgotten him, and Nest Freemark is sent to warn him and to try to get him to take his responsibilities on again, before it is too late.
